Last nights sunset up on a mountain close by to Swakopmund. I really like these monolithic type rocks here, and when the light is right, it can get very moody and dramatic.
I just can't decide if I like the colour or the B&W version the most so here are both...
Today I tried for the umpteenth time to disassemble my Leitz Hektor 13.5cm f/4.5 lens. The last 67 years and/or the previous service centre (unknown date and origin) didn't do it any favours. It had a strong front focus and the focusing was stiff and rough.
Some threads just refused to budge and I had to resort to some creative measures. Biggest culprits were threads with dissimilar metals, like the brass focus scale ring threaded on the aluminium knurled focus ring.
I was expecting a lot more brass inside but there was essentially none in the focusing system. Helicoids are all aluminium.
Anyways. Not a sharp lens, but it's interesting. Probably quite cool as a B&W portrait lens. The blur, full of colour aberrations, can look quite nice, especially in B&W.
