On an M8 it is 21 vs 24 roughly.....you are talking about a noticeable difference. Personally I think I would use 24mm far more than 21mm when doing street shooting. I have and prefer wider lenses on the Nikon DSLR
The pre-ASPH (i.e. the last 50 Lux version before the ASPH) had a built-in hood, so I am guessing that this is a 50 Lux I or 50 Lux II, probably the latter given that it had a production run of around 40 years! One day when I have an FF digital M, and a wide angle for it, I will get one of these, probably chrome, and play around with its rendering. I love these old lenses.
The pre-ASPH is a little better, probably with better coatings, as well as a closer MFD and the built-in hood, but since I have the ASPH, I am less interested, and prefer the older version, to complement my modern version.
Hello everyone...
I have been following this wonderful thread for a while and found great inspiration from the shooters and posters here...I was finally able to get a M9 with a Zeiss Sonnar and CV 35mm...
Here are some of the shots taken with it last night at a friend's wedding, this was my first time using a rangefinder and manual focusing so please go easy on me... I'll post more when I can...
It finally warmed up in Washington DC today, so we ventured out to an area called Eastern Market. The area has a broad range of different restaurants, but on Sunday, also has a pretty large area where vendors set up shop and sell a wide variety of items from fresh fruit, to furniture, to African bar soaps.
With my M9, I can no longer hide at far away distances and sneak images at 200-300mm lengths. Today, I went out with just a 35mm and a 90mm, so it forced me to engage more with my subjects, which was actually quite cool.
This guy was selling bath/body oils.
I think the colors in this bouquet are amazing. All I did in post was just to bump the blacks a little, but that color is straight from the raw file!
This guy was selling hats and gloves, so I asked him to model one of his hats. He happily obliged.
I should have taken a shot of all of his work, but this guy took old crates and put some sort of poster-board on and used it at his canvas. Check out his pants and jacket. They were his pallet.
Lastly, this guy was selling African bar soaps. I just thought his beard was pretty wild. He was super friendly and was more than happy to let me take his photo.

Joakim, nice shots! Great timing on that droplet. How long did you wait for it?
Ryan, like the brasing on your 8.2. Nice! If you ever want to let that 50Lux go, let me know
Phil, nice B&W shot!
Luka, great set, all of them, hard to pick just one. You have a good eye and that 75Cron shot is a good catch! Ducks and swans are always a big plus
Juano, welcome and an excellent first post! Very nice colors, my fav are #3 & 4
Jeremy, that first portrait is stunning! Nice set overall!
Ron & Kyle thanks for the info on the CV15. From Ron's shot, IQ looks very acceptable on the M9 considering the price. Definitely on my list for a wide angle.

From today, I met up with some fellow shooters from GetDPI & NikonCafe for a day out in Boston Chinatown. First set M9 35Lux ASPH. This can be my only lens on the M9. More pics to come.
Joe
Edit: You will see some red edges on the 35Lux shots. I had my uncoded 50Cron and 90Tele-E with me and forgot to switch lens coding on some shots, But even with the 35Lux coding, some red edge is still visible. I think I'm going to code all my older lenses soon to make it easier to switch lenses and keep EXIF correct.

Nice set Joe. Did the cops in the last shot say anything to you?
They were extremely friendly and didn't mind I haven't seen so many photographers out on a day like this in a long time, practically every other person had a camera and there were plenty of DSLR users with 70-200 zooms, Maybe the M9 was less threatening?
M9 35Lux ASPH. I've never shot a 35mm lens as good as this. Its really that good.
Also the M9 colors are stunning out of camera.
Joe - whenever I'm in MA, it's usually for a Patriots game and there is an inordinate amount of state police everywhere, way out of proportion to what I experience at other NFL games... or so it seems. So my joke to myself whenever I'm in MA is that I'm in a police state. At times it has felt that way too, like when I came around a corner pulling two Pelican 1514 cases and started to cut through the apparent police staging area to get to the media will-call window. It didn't take more than a few seconds before I was being hassled about where I was going, etc... I guess they get suspicious when someone is wearing dark neutral tones and is pulling black roller cases, haha... First they wanted me to go the other way around the stadium... then they settled on giving me a personal escort to the media will-call to make sure I was really supposed to be there... geez... But otherwise I do like MA, going out to the Cape, fresh seafood, etc.
Anyway, I'm rambling..
A couple more from me. The first is the ZM35 f/2.8, the second the ZM85 f/4.
Joe - Great series...I wish we had more events locally like that. I see a distinct difference in rendering/color between your 35 Cron and 35 Lux shots (as I should probably ).
Ron - I really like the colors you get out of those ZM lenses
Jeremy - I like #1 best. Great shot.
Great shots Charles...I like #3 from both sets best
Ron, I guess it depends where you are in MA. Locals are probably used to it
Actually its peaceful in Chinatown, the local police work very closely with the local community and also it was a festive Chinese New Year celebrations. The stadiums are different as these are national security threats, considering the after effects of 9/11. Maybe the M9 without a 70-200 helped a bit.
Charles, great series, the 4th portrait in the second post is my favorite!
Ryan, nice series. I like the 2nd shot best! Can't go wrong with the 35Cron ASPH.
