It finally warmed up in Washington DC today, so we ventured out to an area called Eastern Market. The area has a broad range of different restaurants, but on Sunday, also has a pretty large area where vendors set up shop and sell a wide variety of items from fresh fruit, to furniture, to African bar soaps.
With my M9, I can no longer hide at far away distances and sneak images at 200-300mm lengths. Today, I went out with just a 35mm and a 90mm, so it forced me to engage more with my subjects, which was actually quite cool.
This guy was selling bath/body oils.
I think the colors in this bouquet are amazing. All I did in post was just to bump the blacks a little, but that color is straight from the raw file!
This guy was selling hats and gloves, so I asked him to model one of his hats. He happily obliged.
I should have taken a shot of all of his work, but this guy took old crates and put some sort of poster-board on and used it at his canvas. Check out his pants and jacket. They were his pallet.
Lastly, this guy was selling African bar soaps. I just thought his beard was pretty wild. He was super friendly and was more than happy to let me take his photo.
