Thank you very much. But it's Huss that deserves the accolades IMHO.... His contributions are always excellent, but lately he's been knocking it out of the park 📸

Thank you, I do appreciate it! I love your contributions as well of course. This, along with the fim thread, are easily my two favourites on FM.

You are all too kind, just trying to represent the film section.

But man I really should take out my digi M sometime soon. The work here is inspiring!

I just got an m240 and voigt 50 1.1. I’m having trouble focusing properly. It’s probably user error. The Baker’s should be in focus but the bottles behind it are. Any ideas?

Not sure if this is your first RF experience or not, but what I would do is to place the camera on a tripod, focus on a subject (static and with a clean background) using the RF and verify focus using the live view. That should eliminate couple of mechanical issues such as RF misalignment or lens issues. If the RF is aligned and live view suggests the focus is not where it should be, its probably misalignment. I had some trouble when I first got my M9 with user error, though I got the hang of it rather quickly.

Cool shot, though.

Manoj is right, could be the RF is out of calibration. A quick way to check is set the lens at infinity, and point at something a 1/2 mile or more away. If the patch isn't aligned with the subject, the RF is likely out.

That being said, I'm not familiar with the VM 50/1.1, is it susceptible to focus shift?

The BW photos shot on the M10M posted recently look really beautiful.
That Provia shot by Helimat look very nice. Got a good sense of depth to it. That lens has that capability. Good candidate to be shared in the (yet another)'which lens has 3D Pop' post.

I just tried this. Looks like the focus patch needs to be a little to the right for the focus in the RF to match the focus on liveview and in the captured image.

This brings up the question - how do I focus with the RF and then recompose? Do I get the focus patch to align with the desired area of focus and then pan to compose the image?

And one using the M9 + 35 cron v1.
Sold the M9 a few months ago and, looking back at the photos, I am regretting already.

I've had issues with focus-recompose blur when using lenses wide open (eg ZM 50/1.5). I simply stopped the lens down to 2 or 2.8 (giving rise to a different problem for this particular lens ) so that the DOF offered at that aperture will keep the subject in focus after recomposing. On the M240, LV/EVF can be of rescue but it a laborious process compared to the RF

I sent my 90 Cron APO in to Leica and had them calibrate it to one of my M 10s and it is like a razor now. Before that it was definitely not focusing properly.
