Very nice shots, Joakim! My favorite is the 2nd last shot with the shadows & flare, beautiful! Also like the first post with the 50Lux and the 35CronIV shot. Looking forward to the ducks and benches tomorrow

Today I took some snapshots with my M8+25ZM on my sunday afternoon family walk.
At the moment I really hate using this camera. I have huge problems getting the framing right and had to repeat every shot 2 or 3 times.
On my way back home I was pretty sure that I will sell this camera. But after processing the files in LR and seeing the result I'm not so sure anymore. The sharpness and the rendering of the images shot with the M8+ZM25 is really great. The result is in my opinion comparable to images shot with a 5D (at least in some situations). Although I'm pretty sure that I will not get accustomed to the viewfinder of the M8, it's probably worth trying in it a few more month.

Maybe the easiest thing to do is to frame slightly loosely and accept to do the final crop in LR. Nice shots, btw.

Thanks Charles, Joakim & Joe

Charles, great beach shot. Makes me really long for summer.

Joakim, very nice set. Love the bathtub You plan on posting both benches AND ducks? Man, that's going to be a sensory overload

Dalmas, that used to be your boat? Heh, small world.

Carsten, there was some sort of wedding shoot going on there. They definitely picked the wrong light though - it was very um..orange. Not all that brilliant for portraits.

Boris, nice portraits. As for usability, I think it's a question of practice and getting used to it. When I started using the M9 I had some serious problems with getting the framing right. As it is now, I prefer it to the 5DII for handheld shooting. I took a walk the other day with both cameras and found to my surprise that I was put off by the size of the 5DII and the clumsy inaccurate focusing when using wide angles. With the M9 and lenses <= 50mm in FL i never miss focus with the rangefinder when shooting a stationary target. I still prefer the 5DII for tripod use (live view) but definitely not handheld with MF glass.

Joakim, Joe, Edward, Luka and KL ... thanks for the kind words The film like appearance, is related to the minor adjustments in C1 Pro. C1 Pro, is an amazing program, and seems to really gel with the DNG files from the M9. The more I familarize myself with the program, the more it reveals just how powerful the program is. In some ways, it is a shame that Leica are no longer aligned with C1, as you cannot process DNG files in C1 without converting the files to TIFF files to be exported into CS5. According to Phase One, they no longer have the proprietry info from Leica to allow the option of direct C1 DNG files to CS5 DNG file output.

Joakim, beautiful series of shots! The 50 Lux is a magical lens

Boris, very nice portraits. The framing does become a lot easier after a while of just immersing yourself with the camera, and really understanding where the frame lines are. I find I just start visualizing like the camera does now. With WA's 35 and less, framing I find very easy. I really like the concept of the external finder for the ZM 25, as I usually just use the hyperfocal distance focusing on this lens. IMO the framing does become somewhat more tricky with 75mm and greater at near MFD's.

Luka, stunning shots! I am really liking the 35 Lux shots #2 and 3 are superb !!!

KL, very nice series of shots! Love the glow from the 90 AA

Joe, magical moments captured of your son Love the rendering of #1 and 2!

Interesting Charles.. I was under the impression that DNG was an ADOBE standard, which Leica adopted.

I keep reading great stuff about it too..

So what is the workflow then to use C1, I'm all for trying things, but Lightroom is becoming very familiar.

Thanks Carsten. I will try this. But since the M8 has not so many MP cropping a lot is probably not a good option.

Thanks Luka! Focusing with the M is indeed very easy and accurate, especially with WA lenses. Even with a moving target, like my daughter, in more than 95% of my images the focus point was perfectly right (with the lens wide open). This is a much higher rate compared to the 5D using MF lenses and just the viewfinder. But at the moment I find the framing with the M so difficult, that I prefer the 5D even for handheld shots.

Thanks Charles. Since I have a M8 with 24mm frames in the viewfinder I used no external finder with the ZM25. My main problem is, that I can not trust the framelines in the viewfinder. Often the top of a tree or the feet of a person were missing in an image although I'm pretty sure, that they were within the viewfinder frames at the moment I took the picture.

p.171 #18 · Leica M/X/T/S/Q/CL/SL Picture Thread

Hello everyone! i've been lurking and inspired by the many talented people in this thread! The pictures here are truly excellent, and hopefully my captures are up to the standard. Here's my contribution for today...

M9 + zeiss sonnar 85mm

Edit: is there anything you can do when you forgot to change the lens code info after a shoot? e.g. this one was coded as 28mm, thus has some funky colors on the left side (cropped some on the right to correct framing )

M9 + voigtländer 15mm

The hardest part i found when moving from DSLR to this rangefinder is the framing, gosh i still struggle so much with getting my composition right from the beginning, but i must say the colors and shadow latitude of the M9 are nothing short of awesome.
Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing!
Alfonso

Alfonso, welcome... very nice shots! Great to some shots with the ZM 85 Sonnar! They are very few around My favourite is #1.

Edward, there is really no issue with the PP workflow. For the moment I am enjoying the challenge

You must excuse my lack of knowledge with the M8. I was assuming they were the same as for the M9! Sometimes the external viewfinder is handy in the respect that you can see outside the frame, and helps with composing the shot better with the WA lenses. I wear multi focals and sometimes find it hard to see the 28mm frame with the M9. Really look forward to more of your shots though!!!
