Nice shots Charles, photography runs in the family?
Merry X'mas to all. It's still X'mas day in Boston as I upload this. We're expecting between 1 to 2ft of snow + strong winds tomorrow
M9 35Lux ASPH v1, from this afternoon.
I'm getting very high levels CA when I blow the highlights on this lens. Not sure what's happening. How's your copy Luka? LR3 could not get rid of it. See first pic.
Thanks Luka. Nice shot of the shot and I also like the composition and rendering of the last one with the 35Lux
I got severe purple fringing both in-focus areas and out of focus areas. I'm kind of surprised as this lens is supposed to have low CA. Don't know if it could be sensor bloom. See crops of the 2nd and 3rd shot. Lens auto coded as 35Lux in M9.
Thank you Luka and Joe I am really liking the 35 Lux II now!
Joe, very nice shots! I would try and expose more the sky and lift the shadows later. This may help with the CA that you are seeing.
Luka, great shots! I am now preferring your shots with the 35 Lux, even over the ZM 18 Very nice shot of your family!
Some shots in the Springbrook rainforest with mist and rain, from this morning, with the 35 Lux II. All shots hand held, as it was raining a lot, and I was trying to keep the M9 dry!
Singletrack, I like the third photo
Luka, I like the first one a lot and also the photo with the 75 cron
Joe, your b&w photo of the sign with room numbers is excellent in its simplicity, nice use of light and shadows.
Charles, great set from the rainforest (!) where I like the colours and the light. The first two are my favourites.
I am a new to M8 and in few of the pictures that I have shot so far using 75 summarit, I am seeing the F stop in EXIF (I use lightroom 3) vary while I have taken all pcis with f2.5. F stop has varied to 2.8 or 3.4. I have seen this more frequently than would happen by accident. Is it common? I am using a 6 bit coded lens. Am I not doing something right?
Joe: That's really extreme CA. I have not seen anything close to that so far..
Very interesting and refreshing shots from the rainforest Charles! #1 is my favorite
Joakim, very nice winter shots. I think that I'm through your shots starting to appreciate th 50 Lux. While I'm not enamoured by it for close distance shots, I'm definitely seeing a unique and appelaing signature at medium distance and at/near infity. I like #2 & #3 best.
jfreak: It's perfectly normal. There is no electronic coupling between the lens and the camera so the camera tries to guess the aperture. It's precision is usually +-2 stops.
Thanks Luka. I kinda remember that somewhere this has already been talked about in this very forum. Learning things about Leica slowly. Still need to get some pictures with M8 that would impress me to make it worth. This situation has happened before with me when I switched to Zeiss from canon. I do remember you mentioned here that the difference in quality of pics is smaller between Leica than 5dII compared to canon vs ZE. I think I am prepared to accept that small difference also to call it worth. So far, I have not seen that small difference also though. But overall I am sure I'll see it soon. HOPEFUL
