Yeah I have the M mount version of the 50mm 1.5, in the past several years ago I had the LTM version and I liked that one fairly well, and dare I say I prefer the aesthetics of the lens to the new one.
The image quality leaves little to be desired, that much can be said for certain, but I do still think I prefer the image quality and lens aesthetics of my 50 Summicron.
I may or may not keep it around for the extra stop when the light gets low. Largely because I don't have the bucks for anything with Summilux in the name. Summicron is about the extent of my budget
The Canon 50/1.4 is pretty good in a more vintage kind of way, yet still very sharp when stopped down, compared to the more neutral looking CV50/1.5. Or I'd look into a Sonnar. Either the current ZM for something a bit more tamed, though still more characterful than the CV, or a Zeiss-Opton 50/1.5 from the 50s for real vintage Sonnar rendering. Though you'd need a Contax RF to M adapter for the Zeiss-Opton, which adds to the cost. And it focuses by turning the wrong direction...
Ron, thank you for clarifying the situation re 6-but coding, and thank you indeed for your good wishes. That photo was taken just over 3 years ago and my parents have slowed down a little but I remain very thankful for their longevity.
Re UK market I probably should have carried over a Hexanon-M 35 that is great and pretty mint. I want to try the ZM 35/2 or 35/2.8 something that will cause Edward to smile as he reads this! Must go, flt to Dubai now boarding...

I had considered the ZM 50 Sonnar, I may still do so. I admit I did like the closer focusing of the CV and the ease of use due to the lack of focus shift, but we'll see. It's not my main 50mm so I'm free to experiment.
