Out of curiosity, how did you manage to keep it distortion free without use of a shift lens here? Did you stich photos or was it done in post processing? I am not familiar with the lens which you used, is this a special property of the lens to deliver such distortion free images? But then you still need to arrange the angle of camera/lens in parallel to vertical lines in the image I guess?

Beautiful shots! I love that lens and its complete absence of distortion, and there is something special about the color rendering it produces. I am sure your client is happy with your work.

Thank you! Yes, the lens is quite marvelous. I was worried that it would be a little too wide for me, but I decided to go that route because I was worried about needing a little more room to correct verticals in the absence of a shift lens. To my surprise though, the lens does not get crazy into the edge of the frame like an equivalent lens in 35mm format would. So I am pretty happy with it, and now await a 30mm T/S. Come on Leica!

For these images, I did not do any perspective correction or stitching. The trick is that I have a monster tripod and an assistant that carries around a small ladder. With that, I am able to somewhat compensate on certain shots and line the camera up properly with the verticals. Distortion wise, the lens is just really good, lol. Reminds me of the 21mm Super Elmar ASPH on the M.

I'm pretty pumped to be getting a 35mm Summicron ASPH. Since buying the MM over the summer, I've only had a 28mm and 50mm. Both are fine, but not my preferred focal lengths. I was waiting/saving for sometime and was able to land a really good deal on the lens I had wanted all along. It should be here in a week or so!

In the meantime, here are two images from the other day with the MM + 50mm Voigtlander.

Great images, guys.

A few test images with Leica S006 and S 100mm Summicron on SF street. All WO. Still trying to think hard about my next S glass. Can't decide. What you guys think about rendering of the glass?

minimal process.

You know me. I'm a sucker for the 100S!

The 35/70/120 are great lenses if you want a similar look. The 45S is an oddball lens. But very good for true to life rendering. The most "medium format" of the Leica S lenses IMHO. But the 100S... It's special.

Indeed, the 100S has to be really special to secure a spot in my bag. It face very strong competition from 80lux, 135APO, 90cron R pre_ASPH (even bought a new copy with 55mm thread after see all those modern 85-90ish lens) and 55OTUS can emulate too in this case for its fast speed and performance. That is why it took me so long undecided what to do with it.

The 100cron is a very sharp lens if I can nail focus, have to say.

The real problem is AF accuracy and shutter/mirror response. (check LUF S thread on this, Adam, I discussed it over there) and it is so damn expensive. SH

Absolutely gorgeous, Michael. I don't know what the comp is like, but that 100 draws like a dream
Canerino: really sweet shots
Edward: Excellent

How's this for 80?

50 cron and CV 90 make a light pair

I agree that the 100S looks great but for me I think a 30/70/120 combination would make the most sense.

An underground mall in Arlington, Virginia, near the Pentagon. Really eerie place. As always, the Leica X Vario gets the shot regardless of the conditions.

I liked the muted colours of the tunnel, veroman.

None of these were shot intending to be direct comparisons, but thought they might be interesting...

Both 50 Lux pre ASPH, first is M7/Portra 160, second is MM1 (different days.)

Both 21 SEM, first is again M7/Portra 160, second is M240 (these are all same morning.)

and finally a 'making of' with M7/Portra 160, followed by the shot taken with M240/50 Lux ASPH
