In some situations, primarily low light, I like the EVF, but for outdoor shooting, not so much. The EVF has its place in the scheme of things, but I still prefer the OVF in most instances. I have become spoiled over the last four years looking through that bright, clear picture window that is the S viewfinder.
Continuing my beachfront theme with the S2-P, I went out last Sunday afternoon for a 4-mile hike through the nature trails at Topsail Park, but then I cut over to the beach for my return hike.
Nothing unusual popped up - just a few sandpipers and gulls - until I was nearing the beach exit; that's when I spotted this couple looking so unusually dressed. Temperatures were in the 60s, but there they were, walking away from me wearing or carrying heavy coats, an umbrella, but no shoes. I sprinted for about 1/4 mile in order to catch up to them and catch this shot.

My point was, when I'm shooting in the most stressful of situations (focusing wise). I find the 75APO is way easier to focus. It's not to say I don't/can't use the 90APO in most other situations. It's just to say the 75APO is easier to use.
For commercial work I could use a Petzval lens But I still find the 75APO easier to focus in studio then I do the 90APO.
Speaking of Petzval.. Did anyone see the Jupiter Lomo lenses? I have the original one, I guess you could call it.. It's not a bad lens for the $80-100 I paid for it. But the Lomo version is up near the price of the 50 Sonnar... You'd have to be crazy to consider over the Sonnar ZM! But good for Lomo, I guess.

I too think the S viewfinder has spoiled me. I can't stand using my Nikon or Canon cameras now.
Funny thing. A long time ago when I tired the S-system I didn't like the viewfinder as much as I liked the Contax645 viewfinder. Now I don't even like the Contax645 viewfinder. BUT I've realised something. IF you take the C645 80/2 lens and put it on the S-system.. It's probably the easiest lens to MF out of all the S-lenses. I don't know why, I think the lens must have very good light transmission and that zeiss pop helps with focusing. Because it's probably the easiest lens to MF that I've ever used.
To bad it's not a fantastic lens, and is easily bested by the 100S.
And outdoors the SL is so good I find it hard to believe it's an EVF
(But I will reserve judgement on the SL as a system.. Until I have the 50Lux-L)

Actually 650 for a new well calibrated J3 in brass which can CF to .7, if made well with modern coatings, is quite a value I think. The ZM 50/1.5 costs 1200USD new.

I do admire the 75 APO and the price, unlike the lens above, is dropping
But the first thing I really want is a FLE, then 50 Lux asph.
Oh wow, I get my ZM lenses cheaper then USA pricing. Didn't realise the difference.
You wanna trade your 75Lux for my BNIB 50Lux?
(And speaking of hard to focus lenses, that 75Lux skillz are needed).
Oh I'm in Japan with the Mono only. Still not a fan of B&W. Still find it gimicky. But gonna give it a month or so before I make up my mind on it. Maybe take one more trip in between two stressful jobs I have coming up.
Starting to think the 50APO is wasted on it. The 35FLE would be a better lens. Especially with its natural color cast. Like a weak yellow filter
My teeth are chattering from looking at all those beautiful, but cold-looking pictures of snow and ice from around the world. Temperatures are a tad warmer here at the beach. (S2-P and Summarit-S 70)
Nice Ryan! I was hoping your pictures would be crummy so that I can get this darn Q out of my mind. Is it everything you thought it would be or do you have any complaints? Is focusing as fast as people claim? Would appreciate any information....
Feels like a fancy m43 camera in terms of responsiveness and focus speed, focus is accurate and reliable, and best of all no Leica electronic gremlins. I added the Leica hand grip and a Thumbs up, I found it incredibly slippery without it.
But I still find the 75APO easier to focus in studio then I do the 90APO.
