Thanks guys. I been curious about the S for a long time and seen a lot of beautiful images from the S series of cameras. Now with the S 007 and S-E on the shelfs used prices has certainly gone down for earlier model so this felt like an excellent time to get into the system, it felt like I got good deals on both the camera and lens so if this doesn't work out I can hopefully sell this without much loss.

The 006 looks like a great camera and so does the 70 Summarit so I am excited about my new kit.

Edward, great colors as usual and overall it looks very good even without sharpening. I am not sure about the last one though.

Joakim, there is something about these shots that makes me touch these. Made me happy and I felt a bit of excitement looking at these. Like I would feel if I am the one holding the camera. Weird I think but don't know why I felt like this. Looks great.... keep them coming...

Beautiful colors and rendering Joakim. I was always skeptical about digital medium format but there is definitely something special in there. I have never seen such tonality with an M.

Edward, S made me sell the M, TBH. They both have quirks compare other smooth modern digital camera, but if I have to limit only one quirk system it has to be S

Joakim, Nice tone and color, congratulation with new system.

Congratulations, Joakim! What is your first impression. I'm also considering to buy an S2. Maybe you could send me a personal message what you paid for the Summarit 70. I guess it's used, right?

You'll have to excuse a lot of Opera House in frame shots coming up! the result of a couple of twilight wanderings around the area.

Re: the first picture below: when I took it I was trying to find "form" in complexity — and when processing it I thought that is how Jackson Pollocks drip paintings work. Hey, I'm not trying to be pretentious, but I think that this photo could work as a huge print (100x150cm, 4x6 feet), face-mounet on acrylic, although I'm not sure that anyone else would agree...

Re: second picture: taken with the 90mm/f4 + the macro adapter, at the closest focusing distance. I hardly do any macro — when shooting this close the DOF is paper-thin.

There is always plenty of stuff to shoot at the Outpost, a local biker hangout. I stopped by Sunday afternoon with my SL and APO Cron 50/2.

Thanks for the kind comments.

I have only used the camera for a few hours now but first impressions are very positive. Beautiful large and bright view finder, heavy but not to heavy and well balanced with the 70 and also the grip is good. I am actually enjoying using AF for a change but since I've only shot static objects I haven't pushed it at all. The ISO limitations are there but I am used to it from the M9 and from yesterday's photos up to ISO 800 looked good.

I noticed today that the camera certainly draws some attention to it and I got a lot of looks from people I met so for shooting street or when you need to be discrete for some other reason the M is still the king (at least in our little pond )

I have more photos from this morning and hopefully I have time to process and post some later this day.

Charles Peterson, a Seattle photographer, advisor gentle early in the morning — by 8am on a sunny day it can already be blinding — or late in the evening. If you shoot in the light, as in the first picture, you need, of course, to expose for the highlights, which means underexposing by almost 2 stops (1½–1¾ s) generally for the main subject and then push in post processing. For me, this works best in Silver Efex: if I do it in Lightroom I find that I have to also to dodge the highlights to get the look of the dazzling or blinding light as it was in reality — in Silver Efex the extensive contrast and controls structure sliders give you so much control over the look that burning and dodging for this purpose is usually not necessary, both for the M9 and for the M-Monochrom, as in the second picture below, taking almost a year ago.
