For myself, so far, I pay no attention. The lens goes back at the same focus it left, unless I inspect/clean it . Then who knows? aFricanSH pmed me: someone who should know was very insistent on this point. I have heard of it, but have not yet pursued. I should ask DAG.

I always thought wide open was the best way to leave an aperture - is it stopped down then? I keep lenses at infinity as a habit, they're smaller and less likely to encourage dust this way? Had no idea about springs.

I haven't been told one way or another about aperture. When your lens is on camera it should be set to min focusing distance. When you mount and unmount it, also min focusing distance. I was told this by an old Leica tech living in SG. And also by Leica tech from Germany... I use to do whatever with my M9, but had to send it in for RF alignment. I started being good with my M9P and didn't have issues.. Though I've been good with all my M240 cameras, and still had to send in for RF adjustment.
So who knows.. I just do it as a practice since it helps me to focus faster when I know my lens is ALWAYS set to min focusing distance when I lift the camera to my eye.
This is a 2006 GasGas 300cc txt Pro, which weighs 150lbs naked, but is modified for long range single track It's a bike designed for observed trials.
Most of the "Enduro" bikes weigh about 240lbs (my KTM is about 215), and are very clumsy at slow speeds or over very rough terrain. Weight is up high and they love to tip over. When a big tree falls across a trail traverseing a steep side slope, it can be dangerous or impossible to get the KTM past it by yourself, and even with help, it's a major battle. The GG can get around nearly anything, leaving few or no scars. It does have it's own quirks. You always stand. Gap 4th to 5th is huge. Must be started and shifted with care or you can break it. But alot of fun.

While they render differently, the color signature of the 90/2.5 and 28/2 is identical. Very good pair, I think. These two, with the SEM 21 are my best color lenses, and well matched. Only the Sonnetar is richer....but that lens won't do edges

I haven't been browsing this or any other thread in the last few days, since I am supposed to be clearing out one side of our garage, a task that requires me to find room elsewhere for 3 Honda '70s vintage CB400-4 engines and 2 frames, all in complete bits. Someday I will restore at least one...
Didn't honda run those at the Isle of Mann? I once bought a Suzuki GS 750 new (2500USD), and a RL 250 in the same year, which they gave me for 400USD, also brand new. The movie had those great trials scenes and suddenly there were a bunch of trials options from everyone.....and very few sold. I had a Bultaco motocross bike, and always craved a Sherpa T. I once saw Bernie Schrieber ride his at a trial in Cali.
Great price on the RL250...the GS750 was a great bike no doubt.
The CB400-4 would probably never have been entered at the Isle of Man, even in the production class because it would have been slower than the competing Yamaha RD 350 or 400 2-strokes of the day. The Brands Hatch Racing School did run them, so I managed to break a collarbone on one when our Uni bike club paid a visit.
Attached is a photo taken, a year or so later, in June 1979, showing my then 400-4 (not owned now).
Sorry folks - not intending this to turn into a biking thread and apologies for not commenting on recent photos - except to say Rocky, you make me wish I still had my own M8.

Rirakuma those are some spectacular shots. I've plans to visit Nepal next year but not sure if I'm down for some mountain climbing.
I received a 28cron and 90APO used (non 6bit) today. Quite excited to go shoot with them. I suppose this may sound like nothing much to some of you but I'm pretty stoked yet also feeling pretty grateful. Owning an M with the 50lux is already a dream (never thought i'd do so at my age), owning a decent leica kit is another level
