Well, my husband was pretty much against me selling the 90mm R APO as every time I brought it up he'd say, "well we will never be able to afford such another sharp lens". So here I am, still without any Leica camera to speak. Not sure how I'll go forward at this time. So I'll just keep being an impressed as hell visitor.
And Charlie, I want to go with you on a trip on those ATV's! Great photography and looks like a ton of fun!

Chris TY so much for kind words. Actually I was on a motorbike and just happened into this huge ATV rally in the middle of nowhere. Some of those ATVs had come halfway across the country to use the famous trail system above Mackay, Idaho.
Just made a close range comparison of a cluttered table between the 50 planar and Sonnar. It reveals how these two lenses work at wide apertures. Funnily I find the Sonnar has better rendering at f/4 with still smoother bokeh.
Hey guys, been AWOL for a while again... Thought I'd pass along some info in case it interests anyone. I came across a post on LUF where a guy added griptac to the back of his M240 on the thumb grip instead of using a Thumbs Up. While I love my Thumbs Up, I decided to give it a try. I have to say, it's pretty decent, though the Thumbs Up still allows for better leverage. This will allow for better grip when I'm using the EVF, otherwise the Thumbs Up fits in place normally over top of it since the tape is very thin.
I ended up spending about 30 minutes cutting a bigger piece and put it over top of the existing Leica leatherette on the shutter release side of the camera. Makes a considerable improvement, IMO, for overall grip-ability. Even added a piece to my RRS baseplate, since my pinky tends to slide off it.

Actually, I'm not sure if it's the same 'griptac' as sold by Cameraleather. I have never tried their offering, therefore can't compare against this tape. But this one seems to work. As mentioned, definitely better grip than the Leica leatherette.
It comes cut in 2"x8" strips, which is within one mm of a perfect fit on the M240. It's very slightly too wide.
It's charcoal gray/black, so not quite as dark as the Leica leatherette, which is fairly noticeable in the photo below. In real life, I don't think it's as obvious, though in hindsight I could have put in the extra effort to extend it at least all the way to the lens mount on that side. It looks a bit odd in the photo, but I don't care so much about the look.
We'll see how well it maintains grip through the summer. It seems to stick quick strongly, though is repositionable and is also supposed to pull off without leaving any residue...
I bought the six-pack since the price was decent... now to find other things to stick this stuff on! (I already put some on one of my lenses...)
Ron that looks pretty good on the camera. They don't seem to ship to South-East Asia..bookmarked it to re-look when I'm in a shippable location. Thanks for the heads up!

Another couple of shots from last week. The colours are a bit odd cause I shot medium high saturation and contrast JPEGs. Have stopped doing that..
Regarding the last shot, I haven't got used to the 50mm focal length yet. I shot the RX1 extensively before I sold it and thought I could get everything into the frame. Though I think it doesn't look awful.
