75 Lux:

Not bad RF focus with 75 near WO:

I misspoke above when comparing CV 50/1.1 to 35/1.2 but here is the real thing, above the 50 below the 35

Wonder_0-212 by charliewebstersv,35/1.2

Shifting artifical light and three very different lenses: glad I don't care if they all have a "look" in common.

I would advise you to add a black rimmed UV filter, as these chromed filter threads are notorious for reflecting light back into the lens.

X2. This is actually a common problem with a few of my landscape images. Too much time in PS to remove the reflection of DISTAGON on my images. Will have to try a black filter....

That was actually an awesome shot, Gary. You should email it to zeiss. It might win you a new lens

hmmm. I may have to re-think this and turn it into a lucrative niche photography opportunity! Make lemonade out of lemons - right?

I know that first one is a telecoms tower, however it is so evocative of a rocket sitting on a launchpad. Your composition leads in the eye perfectly.

I also really like the moodiness of your second photo.

more with the 35/1.2:

Above. I think is WO, below f/1.4ish where the edges are already pretty good and the contrast picks up alot.

Wonder_0-258 by charliewebstersv, on Flickr

I was pretty happy with the WB in these shots...on Auto

Anyway this A7.mod + M9 combo pushes me up a level in event work I think and this shoot showed me what an incredible combo is the CV 35/1.2 and 75Lux: but I have to decide which on which camera! I really like the contrast of wide shots showing the whole cast and the 75 catching the performances.

Both lenses teeter a bit wide open, but even one click in they start to really perform. Focus at these speeds, especially with the 75, is beyond critical, but since the distances are over 3 meters, even a miss may give decent documentation. Hit rate is about equal, with the M9 having a slight edge in focusing.

Hey everyone. Just dropping in to say if anyone is in Japan (Tokyo) in the near future and in the market for any Zeiss or Voigtlander lenses, you can save 20% or more here with tax free purchases. For example I picked up the new VM 15/4.5 from Map Camera in Shinjuku for 72028 Yen, which is about $600 US. The 21/1.8 is going for 81297JPY/$680USD... I was thinking of getting the ZM25 for 94445JPY/790USD... For some reason Map Camera was quite attractively priced for these two brands. But it also applies to some other brands and models too. For example the RX1 is about $1580 USD here, the Ricoh GR is about $440. On the other hand, Leica products were not any better than US pricing so would currently buy those from an EU source instead... Other places like Yodobashi and Bic Camera also have good prices on some things, but not quite as good as Map when it come to Voigtlander and Zeiss lenses.

I was VERY tempted to go into GAS overdrive here... BTW, still traveling, and likely not posting anything for a while still.

Great to hear from you Ron! Don't tempt me with those prices... I'm looking forward to seeing your shots with the CV15III on M240. Have a great trip and enjoy the great food over there. Eating a live fish there was the most exotic thing I tried last time I visited. My highlight was having the best tempura in the world.

Wow Ron, you give me inspiration for Nigerian Prince variation targeting GAS. "Oh guys, I'm in Bangalore, and there's a 246 in the window for 3k!, send me the money!!!"

I just say that because I'd love to have a CV 15 v3

CV 35/1.2 on special model 9 BW camera again

Does anyone else struggle sticking on a 35mm lens?
I have and love 28 Cron/50 Lux and tend to think of them as a 'perfect pair' - they are my preference when I go for a wander.

But I always feel I should have a 35mm lens for close-in, 1-5m, environmental portrait sort of stuff. Out for lunch, trip to the museum, sort of thing. Just like your great shots of happy times above ^
I tend to think of 35 as a 'single lens solution' for that sort of occasion.

I once had the ZE35 Distagon - this was gigantic, a beast, far too big! I had the 35 Cron-R II - I liked this but it was just *too* crazy FC whenever the subject was not up close, plus I don't like 6-bladed apertures at all. I now have the 35 Lux FLE - the gold standard I guess - but I'm not bonding with it at all.

I am now considering either downsizing to a 35 Cron-M ASPH (or v4, v3), finding something alt but still M(9) mountable but cheaper (and small-size is a 'big' issue here), or perhaps just giving up on 35mm totally for the time being. I could make do with 28/50 I suppose.

I do find 35mm a bit of a 'boring' focal length, neither fish nor fowl. I'm sure that's my own shortcomings, not some amazing revelation in photography I am unveiling to you all(!) All in all I'm a bit lost, most likely I will do nothing and see if my feelings change with the FLE - it's just a lot of cash to have tied up in a tool I'm not using to good effect. I need to take a trip to 35mm boot camp, get my act together.
