We are very lucky with snow, while we don't have alot on valley floor, the top third of the mountain has gained and is really good now, while the whole west coast is a skiing catastrophe

80 miles to the tiny mountains on the horizon, center right over the mist covering the great Snake Rive Plain:

Charlie - are you guys short of snow?
Edward - Wow, sounds great! Have you been told when you'll get it? It's the only piece of gear I'm looking forward to getting in the near future.
Mitch - love that kind of interaction. Not so easy to catch, sometimes.
Michael - lovely separation from the 70. The processing is also spot on, IMO, as Adam states.
Vincent - looks quite M9-like in punch. Great set.

Another picture from the vernissage. I'm thinking of having a chapter of color pictures in the Alone in Bangkok book project, and this picture fits in with the general theme.

Here are three more pictures from the recent vernissage. These are not for the book project, but I'm posting them as a few more examples of the Summicron-35v4 at f/2.8 with the M9. I've been musing about getting the Summilux-35 FLE, but am beginning to wonder whether I'll gain anything. My feeling is that it's difficult to shoot at f/1.4 in dynamic situations because of the relatively narrow depth-of-field, even for a 35mm lens. Any thoughts? (I'm not interested in the new Zeiss-35 f/1,4 lens because of its large size.)

I love my 35 Lux FLE. Nice to have 1.4 when I need it. The bokeh is not bad either.

Some stuff I've shot wide open with it.

I have been using the embedded camera profile for both M9 and M240 since I really prefer the colors from Leica as they are intended to be. Adobe standard profile tries to make every camera from any maker and model look the same. However, in this particular shot, and wherever there are hot sources of light, the adobe standard seems to have the advantage:

(1st adobe, 2nd embedded, both identically processed with WB/tint 3000/0, and everything else zeroed)

Charlie - love the last set. Stunning colors.
Edward - can't wait to see your shots with it. (and you seem correct with the color profiles)
Ron - lovely work as always. Very surreal.
Rene - nice wide angle and conversion.
Ryan - awesome captures. Love that smile!
Interesting Gary - is that some kind of infared shot? Did the GR get there yet? Canada is faaaaar.
Mitch - love the gallery shots - very natural.
Allen - great examples of that lens, but you could have just thrown a dart at your screen and posted whatever it landed on. All you work is superb.
Zhangyue - You better love that S ... holy crap, those are beautiful images! Your kids are always so nice to look at too - you are like me, spoiled with willing subjects that happen to be beautiful. I love shooting my kids. In fact, it's all I really shoot.

Hope to have the M-E back next month, but in the mean time I am shooting with an X100T and of course my R2A with all my lenses. You'll have to check the X100 thread or the film thread to see any of my upcoming posts for the next month...

Thanks Katie. No special processing on the shots. Just some hoar frost and nice diffused sunlight. It creates a pretty neat look IMO. No GR yet but it should be here today... Hope your M-E gets back soon.

Thank you Zhangyue and Katie!

I agree with Katie, you should really love that S! The M photos almost look crude in comparison. Beautiful shots zhangyue.
Katie, I visit the X100 thread often and your photos are superb. The recent portrait of your son is as good as any Leica shot.
