Ron, so beautiful captured and processed. Impressive.
Ryan, cool! Nice combination.

zhangyue - nice, but I have to be honest, I was expecting more S shots

I didn't have chance to bring them to a nice location yet. did bring them to Ski during Christmas but the weight prevent me using them for that ski trip. Again, use them for family, I enjoy the output and AF, (TMS) at close distance, MF feel good as well. 70mm at f2.5 at minimal focus distance rendering is very beautiful. I don't see any other lens like it yet. Very curious of 50AA and Mp50 to compare.

Sorry for many pictures at the same time. But I don't see many samples around line, especially portraits.

Unexpected Surprise by Abram Goglanian, on Flickr

M240 with my ZM 35mm f/2.
It doesn't ever snow in Temecula, in fact, lately it has been in the 70s-80s around Christmas time so to end the year with a sudden snowstorm was quite a surprise to say the least!

Terrific shots all.
Abram gotta love snowstorms.

Last night as Gary if in town can attest too, we had a little snowstorm with frigid temperatures. (colder than -30C when windchill taken into account). Lately I have been shooting a lot of Christmas light scenes with my Canon as I like the colors or effects I can do with 30 second to 2 minute+ exposure.

Last night unduanted I headed out again to Spruce Meadows, when I finished shooting with my Canon I returned to the car to warm up as hands were starting to feel the effects of the cold, even with gloves on. I then put the Canon back in the bag and took out the Monochrom. How would it handle these temperatures.

I ran into one problem after filling the card I usually would delete unneeded images but when I went to delete it gave me one option 'ALL'. For some reason it decided it needed to lock all the Images, I know there is a setting to activate it but I didn't activate it. I called it a night but I did get a few shots in with the MM.

You can see from the flags how storm the winds were blowing. 50 Lux F8 2 seconds ISO 320

How deserted was it, not much traffic in the parking lot, here are the tracks behind my car 50 Lux F8 2 seconds ISO 320

Definitely a winter wonderland last night 50 Lux F8 4 seconds

All and all the MM held up well in the fridge temperatures other than the one glitch the camera worked fine. I was shooting with the MM for about 1/2hour before the glitch. Next time yea there will be another -30C time I will be sure to have an empty memory card so I can keep shooting. Still it was a fun night.

jojomon11 - NICE, hope you enjoy the new lens!

AbramG - I was just looking to book my flights back to L.A. I'm a bit worried now, I really dislike the cold unless I'm skiing. Maybe I'll just postpone my trip by another month.

zhangyue - The 50AA is weirdly unique (a matter of personal taste). The 50MPZE was my favourite lens for a REALLY long time, these days I'm not as in love with it as I use to be (still a fantastic lens). I largely fell out of love with it because of the 50APO. I do take it out on occasion and I'm always happy with the results. The 70-S never really made a strong impression, but I'm open to giving the system another chance. Perhaps when I'm in LA more permanently (where the quality of light is better) I'll pick one up. Until then I'll just enjoy your shots!

One thing I will mention about the 50MPZE. Having the ability to focus close, it's more liberating then one would think. I constantly struggle with intimate shots at .7m focusing with the 50APO. One of the reasons I like the 75APO so much is it's .7m focusing at 75mm.

I feel 70 S is very similar to 50lux, (further, similar to 75cron) just give a little more relaxed feeling because of larger format and slower speed. During editing, I know I am seeing something I didn't see before, the difference need to view full size and print to appreciate. But it is a great lens for both critical sharp work or Bokeh rendering. Leica S is a sexy system but facing steep competition from 35mm and MF with high pixel density. I am really surprised to see Leica keep pixel count at 38M with new S.

I took my kids to San Francisco yesterday for one day out. During the out, i took some street shots. I haven't had a photo work like this for a while. So I feel excited even though I need keep an eye on them all the time.

Funny thing is I see a guy with M240 as well, unfortunately, he seems always put camera arm length use LCD to take photo, no matter what condition. Basically use it as P&S camera. I know it because we took the same cable car and walk on the same street for a while before split

Well it was definitely an uncharacteristic bit of weather for our location, in fact I've never seen it snow there in all the years I've lived there, and lately it's often been in the 80s at Christmas time. I'm on vacation in Canada presently but I was just in LA a few days prior to leaving and it was in the 60s with typical california sunshine.

Thanks very much! I've wanted to join the Leica ranks for years and I finally had the opportunity to do so late last year. I look forward to contributing more to this thread!

burningheart - When I lived in Canada anything -15 and below, I just stayed indoors.

Gary - Now that's a sport I'd like to try.

uhoh7 - The bokeh is fun in the shot with the snowboard!

zhangyue - Maybe give him the benefit of the doubt.. His RF MIGHT have been out of alignment, and he had no EVF. But I wouldn't have talked to him either if he was using the camera as a point and shoot

airfrogusmc - Interesting characters!

AbramG - Good to hear, I just checked the weather, the lows aren't fantastic.. The problem is, I haven't tested the heating in the new house, I'm not even sure if it works!

Adam, I don't have an opinion about that guy, just an observation I indeed see a few Leica on street this time and lots of 6D, (I have to give Canon a applause) they(leica) are really cool to see in person, I even visited Leica store SF.

Here are a few night images, walk around downtown SF at night with family after a nice dinner

I must too.

Another cold night out. This time took the MM and Sony A7s(for video only). Well I drained the batteries this go around. Felt warmer as it was only -21C and less wind on this evening.

Adamwilde -15 and below is more for staying indoors but my Avatar is the one who for her 11 years of life loved her walks, and her walks were usually 2+ hours in length even at -30C. I got used to the cold and now often will go out and photograph in these frigid temperatures.

All with MM and Lux50 ISO320 F8

3/4 sec

AbramG - I do like your winter shot with the ZM 35/f2.
Gary - nice shot of the ice falls and the blue wavy windows a few pages back.(Is that a reflection of city hall?)
Uhoh7 - like your shots with the 75 especially the skull shot, nicely framed and dof/bokeh balance.
Zhangyue - Thanks, nice trolley shots, the two that stand out for me are the one with the fellow looking at his phone while hanging on and the one with the person crossing the crosswalk, sort of reminds me of the Beatles Abbey Road cover. The color shots I find interesting as a couple of the buildings I noticed has a similar architecture found here in Calgary. It was interesting looking at the images seeing the similarity but at the sometime feeling a sense of disharmony as I felt I am looking at a familiar scene but it was radically different. When I viewed them I was looking at them in reverse direction bottom to top. Great job.
Airfrogusmc - nice portraits in New Mexico.Like all 4 equally. Love the old barn shot.
Werner -nice Lake Lugano, like the framing of the railing and reflection in behind.
Ron - love fireworks. nice colors.
FastShadow - nice capture of the man with his shopping cart.
Ricardovaste - terrific bubble capture.
Rahul - you sure captured the sense of what it is like in a kitchen. Nice set.
Crisslie - may be practice shots but the composition(read as contents) of the Leica M cameras in the display case one must marvel at the M’s in the case.
