What are you all doing the evening of March 6th 2015? I would love to see you all in Chicago. My exhibit at the Rangefinder Gallery, 300 W Superior, Chicago was moved up to Friday March 6th 2015. These are the images that they selected. They will be approx 17 X 11.5 mounted on 20 X 24 white 4 ply museum boards with white 4 ply over mats in simple black metal frames. Don't think these are what I would have selected but I do like the choices. I sent them 40 images IIRC and these are what they edit

On the 6th if March I'm apparently being flown in by some nice chap for a week in a 5 star hotel . Would love to come but extremely unlikely, unfortunately. LONDON-Chicago is quite far and quite an expense. Hope it goes well though!

Hi All! It's been so long I feel like I should introduce myself... Wow, incredible work here lately! I will take some time and go back through everyone's posts and see what I have missed! Baseball (fall ball) and Football (last game is Thursday) are FINALLY over. What a long stretch that was.... Now I can get back to shooting. I have been so busy traveling with kids (aka: the taxi Mom) that I haven't picked up a camera in forever!

Here are a few from the last two days: last game (with the 50 Lux) and B&W's are ZM 35/2.

Katie, all are really good, but #1 is superb.
Edward.....ah the Tarragon, I see Beautiful

Some feel this is the best RF lens Canon ever made, 85/1.8 from around 1961. I was able to clean mine up quite a bit:

Canon ltm by unoh7, on Flickr

Today:

L1024195 by unoh7, f/5.6

L1024204 by unoh7, f/2.8

and wide open:

Sun was a bit in and out, last shot had softest light. No PP at all.

TY Gary

FYI: Canon made a number of 85s in the 50's, all quite good. The original 85/2 I think was very much a copy of the Zeiss sonnar. It became the f/1.9 with 20 blades or so--by Itoh. Gorgeous thing, I have a perfect one, but very heavy. Not as heavy as the other front line 85 though, the 85/1.5, again by Hiroshi Itoh, which I believe was a copy of the Leica. It is considered soft WO, but actually it is pretty good and gets seriously sharp by f/4. The rarest Canon 85, underrated.

Anyway the 85/1.8 was meant to replace both lenses in the RF line, and was a complete redesign by the famous Jiro Mukai, who shortly after won an academy award related to his design of lenses for film.

He's the "Mandler" of Canon LTM and about this same time also made the Canon 100/2, which is also outstanding.

My 100/2 is not so good on the M9 cause of calibration issues, but the 85/1.8 seems spot on

but I did snap this one wide open with 100/2 on M9:

L1007503 by unoh7, 100/2 WO

Too bad it was cloudy

PS
Canon 85/1.8 LTM just under the sun today, with some cold haze low in the sky:

L1024206 by unoh7, Canon LTM 85/1.8 Black, f/11 or so.

Again no pp at all.

If you like, check the full for the distant details on the mountain. Hand held at about 2k SS.
HERE is the link

Here a very nice list of the 4 Canon RF lens designers and their lenses:
http://www.pebbleplace.com/Review/Canon_100_Serenar_Page_2.html
Note Murkai also made a 35/1.5, which I would to see and the .95 too.

Thanks Gary, I think its more of the S lenses rather than the CCD chip. Enjoying your recent church pics with the 50Lux ASPH, sorry for not commenting individually.

It's a very new acquisition and I am still learning, not always easy to get the focus right but when you do the reward is great.

I have been watching and liking of course So many excellent shots!!

Joakim, congrats on the Nocti 0.95 I still have my Nocti 1.0, and will not part with this lens. I would run a quick calibration check, on the near, medium and far at different f stops. Once the calibration is correct and very accurate the lens is a breeze to use, even wide open. The calibration is usually off, at some points and correct at others as the calibrations are not linear.
