For 15 years this was the best 135mm film lens in the world.
Unlike the newer Nikon 5cm f/1.4, this lens tuned to infinity. Can produce more detail at a distance than the nikon, which is tuned for 2 meters or so. Nikon tried to copy the Contax mount, as Canon copied the LTM, but they screwed up somewhere in the helicals, so only the wides can be interchanged. At least that's what i read.
Mine has bubbles in the glass.....a good sign
More than any other lens, this one made the zeiss reputation for great glass. Russians stole the entire factory and the Jupiter 3 was born That lens appeared in 1948.

Nice work with the long exposure Gary! I wish that the M is capable of doing longer exposure times. Its also a pain to wait for the NR but it works really well so I keep it on.

Werner, thanks for comments. I was struggle about process under such harsh light there.
BW might be better but I lose the character there.
The white balance is tricky to me, I had hard time to balance blue sky and red/orange cayon. M9's sensor make it very hot. I didn't use any fancy preset but stock one in this case with 0 clarity. (though I prefer slightly more contrast for scene like these) The original file with 50lux around f8~f11 are very sharp, and much more relaxed than what shown here. I really should improve my sharpening for screen long time ago
