p.1 #1 · Rollei QBM mount - Thread

Hello,
As I did no found a "Rollei QBM mounting" thread I created this topic to post some images made with those alternatives lenses that I´ve adquired recently:

- Rollei Planar 50mm 1.8 HFT
- Rolleinar 135mm 2.8 MC
- Rolleinar 200mm 3.5 MC

First I´ll post some test pictures taken with the Planar 50mm. I used it on a EOS 5D II body with an cheap adapter aquired on ebay. It does no focus on infinite and the mirror hits the lenses with focus set on more than 3 meters (to resolve that problem, when I need to focus far objects, I use the "Live View" mode).

Despite that, it´s a very good lens. Very sharp and that render good contrast and color reproduction. I also like so much the bokeh it creates.

I recently bought a Zeiss Planar 50mm 1.4 (C/Y) and later will do some tests and post here...

Very nice set. I have the 135/2.8 MC and really like it.

Cogitech,

I´m also liking very much the 135/2.8 MC, it offers a lot of detail and no problem with the 5D´ mirror. It´s a bargain, I paid aprox. US$ 250,00 on three lenses. The only one that I think is too softner is the 200mm, but with some treatment (contrast, mainly) it can render good results too. In fact I´m just starting to get confidence and "intimidity" with those lenses...

Below are some pictures taken with the 135mm in Holambra, a small town founded by the Dutch in Brazil, also known as city of flowers (the producers exporting to the world, including the Netherlands).

hello

i'm also using rollei 50 f1,8 and 135 f4 on 5d
Boht give super result sharp and nice color with a little ca

i had to shave a little the back of the 50 lens to go to infinity

rollei adapter are easy to brake ( little part for the f pin) so i put one always on each lens
very nice results as good i think as those with my zeiss 50 f 1,7 ?
color on rollei ( the red...) are perhaps better and it's cheaper on the bay
regards

I've been searching for a Kindai/Rayqual or Fotodiox Pro Rollei to EOS adapter but I've been unsuccessful. Ebay seems dry at the moment too.
Does anyone know where I can find those adapters or possible other brand witch is of similar quality as Kindai/Fotodiox Pro?

When taking some pictures of snow with the Rollei 50/1.8 I noticed that there was more red in them than with my other lenses, but the greens (there were a few green plants in my pictures) were weaker.

I have an 85/1.4 QBM Zeiss HFT Planar lens... apologies if I messed up the order of the extra letters.

Anyway, I'd originally intended on selling it as I have an 85L, but decided I'd go ahead and get an adapter for it and give it a whirl before I decide what to do with it. I should be able to do some (poor) testing with it this weekend.

I'm starting to think I'd like to get a 24 TS/E.

I've used the 50 1.8, the 35 2.8, 25 2.8, 200 4 and the 85 2.8 with film for years on my Rollei SL35's, including using the 50 and 25 in an Ikelite housing for UW shots. My favorites are the 25 and 85 and all are still good lenses, although I haven't tried to adapt them to my 40d. Always wanted the 35, 50 and 85 1.4's (used to do a lot of low light stage photography) and the 18 or 15 for UW, but never had the $ for any of them.

I have bought a Rollei F-Distagon 16/2.8 lens recently. I tried to get infinity focus with several adapters from ebay sellers. But I had no luck.
Has anyone an adapter that focus to infinity on a Canon camera?

converted my Planar 1.8/50. A rather easy conversion, re-convertable. Infinity adjustment is no problem with it. I think the 2.8/16 is constructed similar.

I use the QBM F-Distagon on 5D2 with infinity, there were three screws on the focusing barrel that I loosened, readjusted the focusing barrel for proper infinity with the camera on a tripod with 10x liveview, and fastened the screws again. Easy as pie, and the lens has worked flawlessly since.

Unfortunately that same trick doesn't apply to my Rollei Planar 1.8/50.

@staticInc: How did you convert your Planar 1.8/50 without sanding the rear plastic ring?

For the sake of images, here's a few from my Rollei F-Distagon 2.8/16:

Thanks kiddik!
Now I get infinity focus at any aperture.
I should have posted earlier in this thread.
You have spectacular polar lights in Iceland, nice pictures.
I hope to get now some good starry sky pictures with my F-Distagon.

Now I got the full resolution power from this beautiful lens.

F-Distagon first try with infinity focus @ f2.8 / ISO400 / 15s
