Is the lens really that great. For $1700 you can have a brand new Canon 24mm f/1.4 (little less wide but lot brighter).
AF! YUCK!
Just kidding. The new 24L is a beauty, but it does have the typical MF feedback of an AF lens. It's also huge and not a 21.
The Zeiss 21/2.8 (either C/Y or one of the newer ZF/E) is also a beauty with a great MF experience. It's also huge and more expensive than the Oly. And it can't do f/2.
The Oly has the typical great Oly draw, is relatively tiny, fast, sharp, and the minor distortion is easily corrected. It won't be as contrasty or provide out-of-the-camera saturation like the Canon or Zeiss, but it brings more to the table, by my estimation, than either. Which makes it a relative bargain.
Thanks.
Yes, that's the one. Use it rather seldom, but this afternoon it was the only lens I carried. There is a somewhat wild growing area in a close by park.
