How is their return policy? If the glass is good, I could be interested in this one instead of my current 21/3.5 ... but they don't offer much info / pics.
Also, what can I expect from an 8+ rating @ B&H ... I've never bought used from them.
Just chatted with B&H ... stated ALL GLASS is PERFECT ... 8+ is only exterior condition. 15 Day RMA policy.
Kent: "All glass is in perfect optical condition" ... sounds a bit too good to be true. Does that mean no scratches and no cleaning marks for ALL LENSES you sell used.
Kent: Also, what can I expect from an 8+ rating?
Marty K: correct GLASS AND FUNCTIONS are perfect
Marty K: 8+ rating is only an outer cosmetic rating
Bought it ... thanks, they should give you a commission. ...Show more →
Hopefully it turns out as nice as they say. Please let us know how it is when you get it.

Right on, I'm glad you jumped on it. Can't wait to see samples (hint, hint).
I'll post some shots later tonight of what 8+ (OM 24/2 silver nose) and 9 (OM 85/2 black nose) from B&H look like, just to make the pre-delivery anticipation that much easier (more difficult? I guess it could go either way).
No need for commission, though. They've made it very easy for me to recommend them without reservation.
Oh, and as for the 5DII, that will probably be cheaper when you're ready to look for one again. Finding a solid deal on an 18 with a return policy probably won't.

My thoughts exactly.
Thanks again. This'll be my first lens from B&H, so hopefully all goes well.
I was just getting a feel for it ... not really keeping track of too much just yet. I promise to be more diligent about technicals in future testing.
Two things I've noticed already about this lens:
1) It seems like it does a nice job of keeping lines straight ...
2) IF ... you are squared up. My first few shots were anything but square, and it showed pretty quickly ... i.e. live by the UWA, die by the UWA
NOTE: Actually, the lines seemed pretty straight still, just skewing shows up pretty quick if you're off by very much at all.
Much to learn, but the early going is interesting so far.
Beautiful shot . It took a long time for the image to open. I am still in China. They are doing a hell of a job here, to intentionality slow down the internet, especially for Westerners like me.
I am happy to leave this country for good in July.
