At Fern Hammock Springs, Juniper Springs Recreation Area, Ocala National Forest, near Ocala, FL.
Amongst other things, the VII has floating elements in the design and performs much better in the closer distance, as well as having the sliding hood.

Sorry, I misread your posting since you had posted right after my image taken with the 28mm f2.8 Elmarit V2.
As to the 90mm f2.8 Elmarit, there is a difference in the optical design, though both were designed by Walter Mandler. According to the Leica Wiki, the V1 had an optical design of 5 elements in 4 group while the VII design had 4 elements in 4 groups. I have not used either lens, but I would presume that even with fewer elements that the later version performs better. I would also presume that one of the reasons for smaller and lighter V2 is the removal of the 5th element.
