I woke up to a massive California Rose-winged Grasshopper(?) resting on my door screen. I hope one of these days it chooses to rest on a clean window instead.

The out of focus highlights (bokeh balls) in the backgound have evenly spaced vertical stripes through them. What is causing that?
I am not sure. I was shooting through a window, so I thought that maybe there was a net/screen in front of it, but that is not the case. If I have time tomorrow, I'll compare bokeh balls with and without the extender.

The window, but I don't know what exactly about the window causes this. Here is an apples-to-apples comparison with Sony A7R3 + Apo Telyt 180/3.4 + 2x Apo extender R, @ ~f/8. Same subject, same focus point, same distance. The only difference between the shots is that one was shot through the window, and the other was not (the window was opened).

And another shot from the same series. I was not expecting this lens to spend this much time on the body, but it's a wonderful combination of size and performance. I just wished Zenfolio's image compression didn't ruin the background.

The window is exaggerating the "cheap filter effect" that we were warned about when first investing in Leica lenses.
