Summicron 50 is very sharp lens for landscape. At f2.8, it is already good cross frame with minor glow at extreme corner. Great lens!

I keep hearing about the "Leica Glow" but I have no idea what anyone means by this

What I do know is that this lens is very sharp and produces beautiful photos. I was looking at a lot of the photos taken w/ the 28mm F/2.8 and that lens is beyond amazing. That's why if it's reasonably priced, I want that to be my next Leica purchase before I call it quits.

There is no Leica Glow in your summicron, and until I tried 35lux Pre-ASPH, I don't really know what Leica Glow is. I don't even think 80lux has Leica Glow. but after use 35lux, I do know what that means. That is some extreme lens abbreviation with very low contrast and lots of flare type of thing because of coating or lack of it. in back light condition, the light can blend with subject create some kind of light leak, make a glow around subject. I can post some example but it is not R lens. I guess many old lens have this kind of Glow. And Leica shooter tend to use their lens long period of time because of ultra well build and handling make it more famous than other brand apparently.

Don't laugh about it as I did, I actually understand it better and love it now. It is special to my eyes and photographers need understand how to use it wisely. At the end, it is a special combination with rendering and handling in very small package and you shoot it in old fashion way, pure mechanic. It last forever, the image you got is similar to what your grandparent or grandchildren got I don't see fidelity is the sole reason we buy lens especially for story telling.

Here are a few more R 50lux E55 all WO

Yep, that's a serious glow, which BTW complements your shooting style so well.
However, the glow could be, when comparing to Derek's Lux 35m caused by PP even by additional wear of coating.
Derek's version shows more sharpness in the center or rather on subjects hence my suspicion about 'cleaned up' coating. Regardless, great lens effects and a lens to have in digital age.

A couple from the 180/3.4 APO Telyt - stopped down to f/11 or so in an attempt to get some sun stars going.

This lens does not like being pointed directly into the sun as you have to work at it to avoid ghosting, but if you can do that it provides superb images.
