I´m really impressed. Great shots. Viewing your images and the IQ I still believe that the 5DMKI is "better" than the 5DMKII
Thanks for sharing.
The color of the original 5D (which I owned) is likely better than the MKII as the cfa in the MK II is relatively weak to allow for better high ISO. That's one reason I went for the Sony a900...better color and low ISO quality.

Agree. I ditched the 5DII and went back to the 5D. If I need high ISO or fast AF
I pull out the 1DMkIV, otherwise the 5D takes front seat.
Concerning original 5D vs. 5DII, I wouldn't dare to tell which one I prefer color-wise ('better' is a rather featureless characterization with such marginal differences, determined by a number of variables into the bargain, I'd say).
They certainly differ but, be careful to draw conclusions from my pics posted here; by chance, the 5D-shots were taken in much warmer light conditions than those with the 5DII. The Barabary macaques pictures I took in early morning light, and the Frangipani flowers at noon at the sea in July near the Tropic of Cancer...
For me, using Leica glas was/is a pleasure with both the original 5D and the 5DII.
Anyway, I'm happy that you enjoy the pics. Again, thanks for your feedback.
Best
THe 5D was a fine camera, and I too much prefer its colour to the latter version. There is plenty of information on the 5DII's colour issues (lets call them) at dpreview and elsewhere. They swapped colour for high ISO, yep, and maybe thought nobody would notice.

High ISO has more marketing buzz than color quality.
Hello everyone,
Can these lens be overhauled, and reconditioned ?
Not really worried about outside paint, etc.
Wondering about the internal glass, dust removal internally, etc.
Can haze on glass be removed?
I would like to try some Leica glass on my 5DMkII.
However, I am kind of shocked at the prices.
I would classify my Zeiss glass as super bargains!
Anywho, thinking of Leica R 50f2, 60mm Macro, and/or 90f2 to start with.
Hmm, I just bidded (yeah, that site) on a Leica Summicron-R 50mm f2 E55.
Is this version 2?
Anyplace recommended to read up on Leica R glass?
I'd love to hear your thoughts.
johnahill's R 28 images are quite impressive. I've a summicron 35 (last version) on 5d but, even if i like it very much, I don't think it has the same resolution and 3d of the 28. Here there are two shots with summicron.

Leica's factory repair center in New Jersey will either do the work locally or if its complicated or beyond their scope, it is returned to Germany. Routine cleaning, lubrication and alignment/adjustments run just under $300; usually comes with a 6 or 12 month warranty (can't remember exactly) after they've done major work. Some local repair people have experience in the matter and may charge you less but you've got to weigh the price of the lens against it if there are issues. Adorama, KEH, Tamarkin Photo, Igor Camera Exchange, CameraWest and B&H have inventory of Leica R that varies month to month but be aware, videographers have thinned the supply and prices have surged on the best examples of the now-defunct series.
If it's 'haze' and not fungus, this shouldn't be an issue removing. Dust likewise ought to be rid of in a factory CLA. APO lenses are often returned to Germany because the tolerances are so tight that they are literally returned to a line for re-assembly after components are cleaned. Happened with my 90AA and 180 Elmarit APO needing service.
