Very nice set Michael. I love the blue and shallow DOF! I agree, nothing beats a bright OVF for accurate focus. Using an EVF really sours the overall experience (and accuracy) for me.

definitely don't miss the OVF for focusing at f/1.2~f/2

Similar, but through EVF with 10x magnification!
that is definitely the last thing I want do when I shoot portrait.
But at huangshan, I pretty much have to rely on it with A7 and 80-200. I hold high regard on this for people’s shooting preference.
But for me, the difference is not even small. I am 90% sure my image will be different with EVF. I need connect with real world instantly to engage myself. I don’t want any delay from shutter, EVF, LCD or anything else…
100% in-focus is given the priority to get the moment ‘right’ for my family shots. Only OVF and D700’s shutter response give me that….

80lux from last weekend. All WO.
I continue enjoy the fine process through bright OVF and ‘shallow DOF’

Michael, images 1 & 4 have the 'je ne sais quois' effect, so well done.
Great work elsewhere in the thread too.
Note to Gregg, if you get the opportunity again, I'd like to see a b&w image study of only the old and young hands on the laptop, I liked the juxtaposition in the originals posted, so well seen.
A walk this morning found this abstract view taken the 100 AME + 1ds3
Had some interesting experiences with my R lenses on the Sony A7 last weekend. I noticed that I was getting some really bad light leaks just taking normal shots. No long exposures or anything.
Realised that the light was getting in around the lens release mechanism between the adapter and the lens. The way the R lenses are designed, where you can see the locking tab right on the edge of the lens means that light gets in. I guess this is why the Elmarit 60 1:1 adapter has the big lip around the outside that covers the aperture ring and that whole mechanism.
It seems that even the $140 Metabones adapter doesn't have anything extra here. Has anyone else had similar issues? It only happens if I was taking photos with the sun or light source pointed at that side of the lens.
Yes, there is this issue with some LR-NEX adapters, Metabones in particular. However, Novoflex adapters do not seem to exhibit this problem, and newer Fotodiox adapters appear to be all right as well. I've got all three, and the Metabones adapter is the only one that has the leak issue. The newer Fotodiox adapter, if you look from inside, seems to have exactly the same release mechanism as the Novoflex (there is a metal strip that seems to block the light that might leak from the release pin hole).
I'll probably replace the Metabones adapter with either Novoflex or Fotodiox, but in the meantime I just managed to stick a piece of black tape over the release tab and it doesn't leak anymore. It's annoying, but I actually like the extra weight of the Metabones adapter in conjunction with heavier lenses (more even weight spread), as compared to the lighter Novoflex and Fotodiox. Too bad...

An interesting Norman church, with a 12th century roof, Romanesque architecture and a series of wall paintings from the 12th - 15th centuries. The last time I visited here an exterior wall had been lime washed in a 'mustard' colour, this time pink was the colour, euugh .... The yellow flowers are wild Daffodils (Narcissus pseudonarcissus), the county flower of Gloucestershire and the surrounding area is known as the 'Golden Triangle' for the spring display.
It defeat the purpose to use a sub standard camera with superior glass.
Not the issue here. Very happy with the a7.

Been posting a too much in the A7 thread...so, back to the roots!
Ocean2059...welcome to CA!! well, at least for vacation, anyways!! Very nice shots with your R lenses!
Jon..I think that's the first non wildlife shot I've seen you take, and I like it!!
Couple here with the A7 and R 50 Lux...still my favorite lens, even though I've been dabbling in some others...

Thanks. Ah, the church was a bonus, as I normally use Canon TS's for buildings. Subject wise, I'm really quite limited photographically, as I've a pitiful technique/ability with anything that has a 'face and a mother' and a deep aversion to urban scenery, which narrows subjects down a tad. But, here's a 100% crop view of a castle and the said castle in the context of the landscape, apologies for the crop quality but it's about 2 miles distant.
