After looking through this thread for some time, I've now mortgaged myself to the hilt and got some R glass to go with my 7D (well, not quite ).
Current line-up:
2/50 Summicron-R ROM
2.8/180 Elmarit-R v2
Each one is Leitax'd with a Dendelion chip on. I used to have a 2/50 'Cron, again with a Leitax but Optix v5+ and eventhough it worked well I decided to off-load the lens in a strategic move to get my hands on a bargin Canon 2.8/24-70 L. However, I missed the Leica and came across the above 2 at reasonable price - so grabbed them!
I'd like to ask some advice from those who know about set-up of the Dendelion chips?
Currently, I have the chip programmed to the correct max aperture and focal length (I know it does nothing except for EXIF data). I also have the chip set-up for "MF" mode. I also have the 7D set-up for remove focus points/grid etc. for AIServo/MF.
However, the AF-Confirm "beep" has now gone? Any advice? Should I set the chip up for "AF"? But will I then get the awful focus point back in the viewfinder!? .
I've also tried the 7D micro-adjust (before I lost the AF beep), but can't seem to get it to adjust to the right focus (I have a KatzEye split prism installed). The AF beep came on short of focus with about a quarter-turn clock-wise still required. I'm not too worried for portrait shots as the prism works great. I just don't have the eye to be confident of accurate focus for the longer shots where the prism is useless (don't get me on that one - 7D view finder seems very small so wil lsee about 5DmkII some time). The programming mode for the Dendelion seem archaic but will any kind of MA (chip and/or 7D) make any difference for this kind of application?
Any help would be greatly appreaciated.
And when I have them, I'll be happy to participate in this great forum.

Nah, I like the stones in focus and the dog and water out.
thats what i was aiming for, unfortunately in my rush to get the dog in the frame i got the focus a little behind the stonehenge replica instead of right on it.
To add some colour to live, here is a picture taken at the Devaraja Market in Mysore, where many stands sell colour-powders and fragrant oils.

I bought the Leica 80-200mm Vario-Elmar-R f4 ROM for $900. and just love it. It seems to draw a great image all the time. Shot this with a Canon 5D MkII iso 100 lens set to 200mm f5.6 @ 250sec I think this lens camera combo to be one of the best. http://gallery.me.com/dbiela/100010/Car09b/web.jpg
A real classic the Leica Summicron 50mm E55 I have tested several lenses that are sharper but they never match the color or bokeh. Shot this at the local car show last summer Canon 5D MkII iso100 f2.8 @ 125th sec. http://gallery.me.com/dbiela/100010/DG-200609Car-20Show03/web.jpg

Several lenses sharper than the Summicron 50mm? Makes me wonder.
Here is a portrait with this lense: A really remarkable and beautiful old man I met in Konark, Odisha. Unfortunately I couldn't communicate with him, his face made me wish to know his life-story:
This is my Macro equipment: 90 summi preapo with elpro3 and apo 2x extender.
It may sound some kind of provisional but I shot it to find vermins on my little lemon tree which I could barely see by eye. And I find the pic quite pretty...
