I saw a 60 Macro here for around $300. Would like to try it as well.
The R60/2.8 macro is one of my favorite lenses, definitely one of my favorite Alt lenses. That's a great price if the lens is in decent condition.

There was a short comparison few years ago here, but unfortunately the pictures are gone .
From the samples shown, they were very similar with the Samyang showing focus shift stopped down and therefore seemingly not so sharp as the R80. The pics were about mfd.

yeah, I saw 3 direct comparisons including that one. that's what my comments were based on. i only have samyang. the samyang doesn't have much character, just pretty uniformly smooth with some loCA.
My copy of Samyang has lower contrast at 1.4. If it had a brand name on it and was 35+ year old it would be concidered a legend and fetch $1000+ prices depending on availability.

It probably wouldn't be available even..
I chose it over CY 85/1.4 anyway (both price about the same here) and over haemorrhoids with 85/1.2 S.S.C, but I am ever so interested in those 2 Leicas for some reason...

Odd. I also chose the R 80 over the CY 85/1.4 and 85/1.2 S.S.C Asph. But that was way back in the film days.

I was going for 85/1.2 S.S.C or L (FD) but not quite as good as converting myself and Ed Mika's kit wasn't available yet. Then I simply went with the Samyang thread....
CY85/1.4 was a questionable thing. Samuli's shots are superb, but so is his skill. Quite a few others noted that they disliked CY85 OOF rendition (or it was my understanding of it). So it pretty much left Samyang, especially since 80/1.4 was nowhere to be found at that time..

Till this morning Vancouver had a record breaking hot, sunny summer days so I rarely felt like taking pictures. Hopefully upcoming weather change should allow me to contribute more to this thread.
