Im considering picking up a copy but Im less sold on its mid distance to infinity gestalt, even if macro shots with it look really good. It's been tough to find images though.
Elmarit-R 60 is one of the rare lenses having correction for macro as well as far ranges. Here's one on D800E:
redisburning -- Really! I don't use the 60/2.8 as much for macro as I do for general photography! It's great throughout its focusing range. Maybe I'm spoiled, the Nikon 60/2.8 macro, the Canon 50/2.5 Compact Macro, EF-S 60/2.8 macro and especially the 100L IS macro are all outstanding throughout their focus ranges from close-up to infinity. The Leica ranks right up there.

Salgado used it extensively for his Workers and Migrations photos.
I always felt that a small handful of Leica-R lenses I have exhibit slight colour shift towards blue, at least comparing to Zeiss Distagons and few Nikkor AI-s I use. It’s not a complain, but rather an observation.
My recent Leica-R purchase came with Hoya Skylight 1A pink filter so I decided to give it a try. The two test images below were taken within seconds apart and all PP settings were identical. During import into ACR I had to match colour temperature to 4975 deg; shot with filter was 4950 and without was 5000.
Comparing images below on a calibrated NEC PA series monitor to captured booklets leads me to believe that Skylight 1A filter contributed to more realistic, truthful colours. I guess there was a reason after all why the original lens owner purchased that filter in the first place.
Am I going to get Skylight 1A filters for my R lenses? Unlikely. I just thought some may find the above interesting.
JaKo, regarding your color tests, my understanding is that there were coating changes over the years for the R80, and likely affecting the color temp. If you don't mind, what's the first 4 digits of your lens? Just wondering.
Thanks for all the comments and like, I appreciate.
Eiffel, very nice composition.
Jako, Nice set of 80lux, I like #2 the best. and thanks for illustration about color hue. Good info.
(stop down meter and never LV/tripod force my habit of shooting WO most of the time, though for 3 lux I have, if photos are not sharp and interesting, it is me but not lens. )

Well, YOU, keep doing what you doing because it looks well, to say at least
Your subject(s), composition and subdued images (meaning in a positive way; as purpously not pushed or over cooked) perfectly lock into a very unique set of portraits that seem to be distinguishly unique to your style.
Jack, I appreciate your comments. In above 80lux set, #1 and 2 are very nice shots, especially #2 I would do the same waiting for right timing for people went to right place. Nice job. The portrait is very nice too. How do you feel Manual focus with D800? Especially 80lux.

Thanks!
Actually I find it not difficult at all even considering very narrow DoF at 2-4 meters close distance.
Lux-r 80 glass is huge and when used WO on D800 with its 100% OVF coverage + bright screen + Nikon DK-17M magnifying eyepiece all together makes focussing fairly easy (and this is comparing to Nikon FE2 with K3 split screen and prior KatzEye screens on other DSLR cameras)

The Leica R's continue to look good! This one was taken with the VARIO-ELMAR-R 35-70 f/4 in macro mode at f/16. I really like this lens!
