Modifying old/classing gear, cars or alike to temporary modern needs feels so cruel to me. I plan on getting Lux-50 E60 sooner or later, and perhaps in a next year Sony RX2 or similar FF mirrorless camera from Nikon (Zeiss or Voigtlander?) would solve this Leica-R ‘modification’ issue.
For now, did anyone had any luck with mounting unshaved Lux-R 50 E55 or E60 on Nikon FF (without shaving mirror)? Thanks!
1- The Lux 50/1.4 E60 mounts with no issues on Nikon Fx (and Dx) cameras.
2- I don't mind modifying a lens to be used on any camera. But I cannot yet bring myself to "Butcher" a very unique lens, the Leica R 15/2.8 Aspherical......still new in it's original box and will stay virgin....at least until the M240 shows up!
My copy of the 50 E60 cleared my 5DII mirror, and still focused at infinity, so it wasn't due to a thick adapter.

Not with my copy. It hits my 5D2's mirror. However, I heard 5D3's mirror is a bit shorter. Someone got a 21-35 ASPH which will not clear on 5D2 but works on 5D3.
180 2.8 APO is one of the best. Amazingly, image quality does not suffer with 1.4x APO even WO and at pixel peeping. It's very compact too! It's one of these R that has the cake and eat it too. 3D like Zeiss with Leica soft rendering style.
