Yes 90AA can render harsh/non-smooth bokeh in harder bokeh scenes where there is less distance between subject and background. I like 100 APO and 85/1.4 better for bokeh.
Also 1ds3 has the best low ISO Canon IQ IMHO. Better than 1ds2.

Off-topic:
For Canon and Sony Cosina made the chip versions, beacose for this systems the CPU really need (on the Sony incorrect working an internal image stabilization and focus confirmation, on the Canon not working focus confirmation and both lenses has electronic aperture). For Nikon - Ai-S versions. And for Nikon - more expensive than other systems.

I think the 80/1.4 has beautiful creamy bokeh wide open to f/2, and the 100 isn't bad at portrait distances wide open, but I think the non-AA 90 cron (e55 Canadian or German) bests them both from f/2-5.6.

If you're shooting landscapes, exteriors/interiors and macros, I agree. I think the DsII's better with skin tones and the simpler rendering/colors tends to work out better for B&W conversions. Since switching to Sony, I find I miss the DsII at times, but I don't miss the DsIII at all.

Yes, that sums it up nicely. But in other shooting scenarios (early morning landscapes with the sun behind you, for example) there's no other lens I'd rather use.

I'm not about "other shooting scenarios" in that messages. I'm saw too many good pictures from R180/3.4, bokeh maybe a bit better than my V180. Or maybe not better, but just another. Nice bokeh
