Out of curiosity, is the sensor clean? no fingerprints or other marks?

While this is an appreciation thread, in my mind it's also about helping other's get the most of out of their cameras, the Kodak community is a small, tightly knit one.

the sensor is defintely not clean. I have so far only used the blower. I refrain from doing a wipe in case the seller refuse to acknowledge the issue after.

The results are disappointing, but why use a T/S lens to test a camera? From your last image it looks like either the lens or sensor is tilted.

Edit: The Kodak SLR/c isn't good with T/S lenses due to color shift.

A T/S without T/S is just like a normal 24mm lens. Anyway, this is the only WA with me at the moment. Why I use WA? cos at infinity, everything from 3m should be in focus and sharp. I feel this is the best way to test, I have also used other lens to verify.

I think I may have discovered what is wrong with the camera. The sensor seems to be tilted and not parallel to the shooting plane. Anyone knows if this is easy to fix. Should I just send to the repair shop or return this to the seller? I really hate to give up on this camera.

A few weeks back the question was asked about the blueish tint that appears at times in some of Paul's shots, is this PP or is this the result of the sensor?

Jim-
Are you asking this of my last posting? If so, the blue is a fairly accurate representation of the blue of the berries. If anything, everything might be a touch too green (which I thought about adjusting a bit). This is pretty much right out of the camera. The only adjustments were adding a stop of exposure in Camera Raw, and a bit of levels adjustment.

Not so much your image , but myself and another poster saw the same thing in several shots posted by Paul and we are just wondering if this is the sensor or the PP that is done by Paul.

I don't do any PP with my files from Kodak either...
I do find that sometimes the files are bit greenish, but because it doesn't happen everytime, I assumed that the AWB of the camera can be inaccurate from time to time...
Maybe I should try 'auto tone' with the Photoshop....

I am blown away with how these images look. I have a question for you all. I think that you can no longer get parts for these cameras (or a whole camera). Have any of you needed repairs done, and how many actuations are they expected to last? I know that's a spurious question but are they generally regarded as a reliable camera? I'd like to track one down. You can also guide me as to which is the best model to look at. Thanks,
Bill

I think that's right. AWB doesn't appear to always correct (unless its just smarter than we are). I've been using Adobe CR for conversion, and sometimes find that I need to adjust white balance from what the camera records as "as shot".

You can't get them new, but they are available used. Parts are available. I just had mine repaired, and parts appear to be available. My repair had nothing to do with "reliability", just my stupidity. As for model, I would think that you would want to stick with either the SLR/n (Nikon mount) or SLR/c (Canon mount) depending on your mount preference. There are some differences between them other than the mount, but I'm not familiar with what those might be. I hope this helps a little.

There are basically 4 models worth looking for...

Kodak SLR/c ... Full Frame camera with 12-13MP for Canon mount. Excellent for landscape.
Kodak DCS 560 ... 1.3 crop camera with 6 MP for Canon mount. Excellent for portraits.

Kodak SLR/n ... Full Frame camera with 12-13MP for Nikon mount. Excellent for landscape.
Kodak DCS 760 ... 1.3 crop camera with 6 MP for Nikon mount. Excellent for portraits.

I think the blue tone went away with auto-tone....
But, I somehow prefer the original....

Paul,
it might be similar to Canon's original 1D if you remember it had a greenish tint to its files, but it allowed you to add a curve adjustment to the files and then it was no longer a 'problem'

Perhaps it's because Kodak DCS 560 is based on Canon's EOS 1-N body....
But, I thought it has to do with sensor, not so much the body....

Maybe it is the characteristic of CCD sensor?
