Seems the Pici server is down, So I'll have to see if this works... Still from the 150A - since it's the only Mamiya (645 at least) I own sofar. These are around 50-70% crops from larger images, both at F/4 - I think.
That is a very nice shot! Look at all the color that comes out.Nice job. Thanks for sharing. No way to post the image in the thread instead of a link? Do you have flickr?

JohnJ,
#3 is very nice. You gotta love the Mamiya Reds.Which body are you using with these?
-Jim
Thanks Jim. There's a polarising filter on that which helps colours too. Red is difficult, and all three shots have slightly different WB and green/magenta balance so it's a really a dogs breakfast when you see them together.
I've used a Canon 1dsmk2 on those images but I'm sadly about to sell it (there are tears running down my quivering cheeks as I type). I've just bought a 5d2, yesterday, and my wallet aint big enough for the both of them. The 5d2 is very much a 'sidegrade', not an 'upgrade', but I really need the live view and the better hi ISO performance will help with some of the VERY regular night work that I do. A 1ds3 would have suited me much better but I simply can't justify the cost in my line of work.
EDIT, I think I love the Mamiya 80mm lens now. I've used it enough to make up my mind and although it has it's faults, I think it's pretty close to perfect for my specific purposes but only in conjunction with the Mirex.

John,
did you use a tilt/shift adapter on any of these?
-Jim
No, but the last shot, the exterior of the car, would have benefitted from a very small amount of tilt to bring the sharpness at the rear of the car up a touch (it looks OK here but if this shot was printed across a couple of pages then you would see the difference. I was freezing, and could barely see to focus accurately (one of the reasons for wanting the live view of the 5d2) because of the howling wind so I just wanted to get out of there. Excuses, excuses...
I only have a Mirex adapter but I don't always use Tilt or Shift.

How could you be freezing.Your profile says you live in Australia.

Yeah, I was waiting for that from all the Canadians and Yanks out there...
I suppose it's what you are used to. Here in Melbourne we bitch and moan like it's the end of the world if the temp gets down to about 11 Deg C. The wind kills me more than the temp. Melbourne is a windy place.
Here you on the 1Ds2. Love mine, but would be very nice to have LV and AF microadjust (I know, I know, but I could use some more AF glass. Shudder). While a move to Nikon would suit me just fine, the country-specific warranty BS with Nikon in NA is annoying as finding used high-end gear in Canada is like looking for an honest politician. Short of that, debating a 1Ds3 when the 1Ds4 comes out (looks like CDN dealers are trying to clear stock) or a 5D2 to add to the 1Ds2. Much like you say it would be a sideways interim move....(I never took to the 5D_ ), but...
Would love to hear your overall analysis of the 80/2.8. Use my 801/9 a lot but have never shot with it's smaller brother, though looks like it delivers.
My daughter and me still shoot with our Mamiya 645 Pro's 120/220 film, although not as often. It's a great camera. Wish I could swing a Mamiya body and add a digital back....
Thanks for posting this site...

It's nice to see the M645 lineup getting contemporary reviews. I sold my 80/1.9 early this year, as it couldn't compete with my other fast 80-90mm lenses, but the 80/2.8N is a definite keeper.
Hey Jim. Agree on reviews. Also nice to see this thread at 500 ish posts and growing. Not bad for lenses that 'suck' on 35mm. Not so good for prices creeping up and availability dropping on the rarer lenses, but you can't have everything (besides, I already have many of them...but a 300 APO would be sweet ;>.
Besides, give folks something to read other than "Zeiss...blah, blah...Zeiss" ;>
Aham - thanks for the link. Have read the review. Find his tests ok from a technical perspective, but inconsistent in commentary - e.g. a lens is 'ok' with X amount of CA showing in test pic, next lens is 'poor' with same amount of CA, etc.
Given the price of a used 80/2.8N I think one's going to be a add-on in my next US order (to better justify shipping).
I kinda agree Rob, but I think he was referring to the purple fringing WO, shown on the balcony railing shot done with the 1.9, which was not present on the 2.8.
