p.1 #1 · Stolen sports images

Sorry if this is a duplicate post.

Spread the word.

Make sure your stuff is not stolen. If you use flicker, use a watermark! Most of the images in question have been taken down.

I always mark my stuff- if you're going to steal from me you might as well give me some free advertising.

BTW, I have had my work show up in places that I didn't particularly appreciate, so I sent them a bill through Paypal. It works better than a "cease and desist order".

Jason, I'm sure you can sympathize with this one, some clown stole one of my fight pics and used it on their promotional poster, website, etc. Even had the balls to tell me how HE was doing ME a favor with all the free advertising I was getting! I did the same thing you do, sent a bill through paypal.

it's pretty f***'ed.. people think 'cuz its on the internet its free for the pickins. Got to admit -- i haven't read the original posted link but got to say, from personal experience - don't post full / high rez size images on the 'net.. 400...maybe 600 pixels at the most w/ your watermark on it in case it is hijacked... billing after the fact is an option..with a slight hope of fiscal recovery.....but do you really have them copy righted w/ the US copyright office in case you take 'em to court? are you willing to spend the time, effort & frustration to persue the matter..? Sadly it's best to relize that anything posted on the web is free game to amoral individuals ..... do what you can to protect your creative property up front might be the prudent thing to do... anyway- good luck !
best regards
-jd

I actually know this guy Dennis. He has been an acquaintance for awhile, but I've always managed to keep him at arms length because I'm in Denver and he's in NOCAL. He told me he was getting into High School Sports photography and sent me the very same images in question telling me how he bought a beauty dish and used kickers etc and took these shots himself. Like an idiot, I believed him. That arms length relationship just went to "not with a 10 foot pole". He lied to me and everyone else and now he's going to pay the price. I feel so embarrased that I actually thought these were his. Oh well, live and learn I guess.

At the very minimum, he should be driven out of business for a scumbag move like this...
