I have to preface this with a bit of history. In the late 50s I spent 2 college summer vacations working in Yosemite. I had the VERY best job possible for a kid. And this was in the most beautiful place on earth IMHO. I thought nothing could have been better nor more beautiful.
When it come to beauty I have changed my mind. Beauty wise Winter beats the heck out of summer and you don't have to put up with all those tourists.
My loving wife can't stand cold but even she loved the magnificence and glory of the valley.
Here are a couple of shots from out last foray there two years ago. They are a bit personal. Not the most artistic but I felt they convey the feeling of the being there.
Henry... I have been to Yosemite only once, and it was this past summer as one of those darned tourists! I totally fell in love with the place, and cannot imagine what it is like to visit in the peace and tranquility of winter. I agree with Sharon... the third is exceptional!
Very nice really like the personal takes they bring back many memories of weekend after weekend trips from Costa Mesa to Tahoe back in the early 80's. #3 is just stunning the comp colors and light are just beautiful
Thanks for posting the story as well. It is nice to get to hear and in this case see some of the personal backstory to FMers pictures and outings. I am glad you shared it with us.
Like the last shot Henry. Lovely capture. Will be up at the lodge for a four day weekend shortly. Hope to have some nice snow and weather as appears in your first two shots.
Great personal stories. Working in Yosemite as a kid must have been a rewarding opportunity for you, and you got to see the real fire fall every night. The third shot is simply jaw dropping.
