Just received it a day ago. Lens turned out to be in near mint condition, with precise infinity focusing and no mirror issues with my 5DII. Pictures will follow soon
Thanks. What I have learned with this picture that I have been too reluctant with USM prior to the first resizing step in the past.I used to start with a very small radius of 0.2 pixels, but at the highest intensity of 500%. With the Fuji/Zeiss images, this usually gives a pleasantly sharp look, and the detail that is pulled out of the 35-70 images in particular is really fascinating every time.
While this sharpening step creates a nice looking result for before resizing, it is not agressive enough to give an optimal end result. The script I use mainly now starts out with a radius of 0.3 pixels at 200% intensity. While the image looks oversharpened after this first step, fine detail is preserved visibly better at the end of the sharpen/resize procedure.
The complete routine for this image (probably still absolutely primitive compared to others, I appreciate any comments!) is as follows:
I've seen some people here mention doing USM with 0.5px radius and 100% intensity, that would be way too much for all images I've tried it on that start out with good sharpness. Maybe it's okay because it's at the start of a much bigger downsizing process, after all I'm only staring out with a meager 6MP image.
