This summer wasn't very good for photography - either no motivation, other interests or no time, went out shooting only about 15 times during June-October period. Now I have motivation, but it's winter again... I'll have to schedule my motivation better next year, it will be hard since it cannot be forced or planned.
Few photos from Monday - Vehoniemenharju (eastern part) in Kangasala, Finland.
"Largest burl I have ever seen" - Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/50 @ f/2.8, 1/50s, ISO 100, Carl Zeiss T* Polarizer
"Broken and fallen" - Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/50 @ f/2, 1/50s, ISO 100, Carl Zeiss T* Polarizer
"Inventing names for photos is really difficult..." - Carl Zeiss Planar T* 1.4/50 @ f/2.8, 1/60s, ISO 100, Carl Zeiss T* Polarizer
Great Samuli. This year, we may see a lot of snow shots from you eh? Welcome back. Great use of Planar as always. I thought the last one was in portrait. Sideway portrait
Great work everyone!
Jako - beautiful archietcture photo with excellent processing!
Johnahill - I like the colour and clarity of your beach cabins!
Samuli - good to have you back, excellent presence as always in your images, #1 my fav.
Ulff - impressive landscape!
I am doing a series of vertical micro landscapes like these with the MP100 this month (some of them allready posted in the HD-thread)
Ulff - a couple of superb shots over the past two pages, impossible to pick a favourite from those.
Johnahill - love the beach-huts. Wonder if losing the sand could also make a strong square shot with the lines going through the frame ?
Oldraven - great lines in the boardwalk shot.
Drop dead gorgeous bridge shot JaKo !
Don't think I've put these up here (it's an age thing). All Zeiss 21mm.
First shot of Kyoto (Golden Pavilion) processed (after finally solving Lightroom's refusal to export anything for the past few days ! ). The 'better' vantage point (clean shot of the temple with no trees in the way) was unfortunately facing directly into the sun - so anyone going here should plan their visit very carefully, something we didn't do !
A couple more from the Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto :
I'm hoping that all you knowledgeable Zeiss people can help me make up my mind?
I have the option to purchase a secondhand 100mm MP for £880 (normally £1380 new in the UK) but the copy for sale has slight rub marks of the anti reflective matt black paint near the mount. Would this seriously affect performance? Apart from this, the lens is perfect and comes with all the original paperwork and box.
I'll be using it on a Nikon D800, so any comments from D800 owners who have this lens would be most welcome.
It works very well on the D800, although focusing is touchy, as with all the fast Zeiss lenses. With good of technique and a bit of practice it should be possible to get a good keeper rate.
The matte black paint I presume is on the inside? You can repaint that with no problems. Get a matte black paint from a lens parts shot like microtools, or even a small tin of model paint.
