Duh-oh. Last week I acquired two lenses for my D800, the Nikon 24mm 1.4G, and the Zeiss 100/2mp. The latter following my admiration of the 35/2, which I have owned for a while.
I was awestruck by the 24mm 1.4G. Was prepared for AF issues, lack of sharpness in the corners, etc. Not. Must have a great copy, because it is something else.
Not so my 100/2mp. Soft images for the most part, with one or two exceptions. I was bummed - accentuated by the fact that it has rained here for about a week straight, and I kept looking at this lens with trepidation.
Then I had an epiphany. Well, this is a long mf lens, after all. And I usually shoot my D800 in manual mode, with the shutter at 125 minimum. But wait! I should be shooting at 200 minimum with this lens! Could that make a difference?
Oh yeah. Took a few practice shots around the house, and they were all sharp. Sorry Carl! I didn't mean it!!!
