50MP delivers very good at this kind of images. I amplifies the details of when I edit the pictures :-)
Ah okay, now I understand. The DoF looked too large for a tight composition, even with that lens, and I couldn't quite figure it out

Bob, your two BW conversions on this page are amazing. Care to share your method. Such drama wrapped up in them.

Both were converted using Silver Efex Pro v.2. However, the first required a lot of playing with luminance channels in the color version along with added vignetting. Once in Silver Efex, I chose a preset to bring out more structure and contrast (can't remember which one).
For the second shot, I wanted to bring out the texture in the sky and give it an almost HDR look. I have a recipe in Color Efex Pro that combines bleach bypass with their 'Monday Morning' preset which I then modified further to reduce the blur effect but keep the micro contrast and desaturated in Silver efex for the finished image.
I've said it before and I'll say it again:
Sometimes I see people saying that the 35/1.4 ZE/ZF isn't sharp wide open. That's complete nonsense (or I must have an exceptionally sharp copy).
