mortyb, what aperture was used to take the shot. There are slight traces of mechanical vignetting on background, at least I do notice them. I bet it was shot around 2.0. Or narrow?
Johnahill's last Devon set pictures have a quite evident phenomenon of mechanical vignetting. They were shot wideopen I suppose, and I'm aware of such performance of 100MP.
N.B. search "cat's eye effect" or "mechanical vignetting" if u're not familiar with it. Or look at LieutenantZ's marvelous picture.

Another boring shot from the forests. D700 + ZF 85/1.4. I like this lens, it has nice separation/pop ability + saturated colors.

I look back now on my shots from that day in that garden and wish I had stopped down a bit. I was suduced by the shallow dof at f2.0 and to be honest I've got some good compositions from that garden that have been ruined by shooting at f2.0, mostly becuase the DOF is too thin for the shot and the look I was after.
