mortyb, what aperture was used to take the shot. There are slight traces of mechanical vignetting on background, at least I do notice them. I bet it was shot around 1.4-2.0. Or narrow?
Johnahill\'s last Devon set pictures have a quite evident phenomenon of mechanical vignetting. They were shot wideopen I suppose, and I\'m aware of such performance of 100MP.
N.B. search \"cat\'s eye effect\" or \"mechanical vignetting\" if u\'re not familiar with it. Or look at LieutenantZ\'s marvelous picture.
