Unfortunately, the wife and I are sick with Sinus Infections so I have nothing to offer. I just wanted to stop in and thank everyone for the continued inspiration. It's unbelievable how this thread just keeps getting better and better. Hopefully I'll have some from the 21 tomorrow or later next week?
Also, if anyone lives in the Orlando area I would love some ideas on where to shoot (besides Disney). I'm planning a trip for next month. If there's objection about posting ideas in this thread please send me a PM. Truly appreciated!
Fantastic photos Mac! I didn't realize this gem was hidden so close to Knoxville (2 hours from my house). Hopefully I'll make the trip next month? Have you been to Bald River Falls (Tellico River)? Great location too.
Yup, it's nice too! I"m in Cookeville - If you ever want to go shoot just send me a PM - I'm free most weekends as long as I give the wife some shopping money!
Sounds great. I have two toddlers so I need to work out some Mamaw / Papaw time. Once they return from "snow-birding" (Florida) in April I'll have a babysitter. I'll PM you with some dates when it gets closer. Let me know if you have a trip planned my way and we'll meet up.
Lieutenant, Carsten, Sven - thank you very much !!
Gregg - Awesome shots with 50P. I do like your favorite shot from the first set too (1.4 shot). Beautiful and dynamic as if the background is in motion. f7.1 shots, ( last of the second ) is bitingly sharp with great color.
Lieutenant - Brilliant capture of lights at night. #1, #2 are really cool.
sandycrane - Nice capture
Joakim- Great color texture and composition.
alkanphel - Great to see your work. Love the #1.
Rodluvan - That is a very nice pano shot. Lovely tone.
@Akul..as always, thank you for your comments! I really like the above shot^^^..a lot of dynamics going on, what with the high rise, the buildings on the right leaning(not really!), and the rooftop overhead gives it a unique feel!
Yes, I'm finally getting to really like the 50P...so much so, that I am actually going to list my 50L(and in case somebody reads this and wants...it is sharp wide open!)! I just like the bokeh and colors of the Zeiss better, I guess...I will post some more here shortly, too!!
Gregg
Congratulations for your new lens, Philippe. And I won't say anything about selling your 21ZE ;-)
From your three images above I think I slightly prefer the 35ZE shot, but the 25ZE image looks also very good.
Hi Philippe
Thanks for your kind comment.
It is always very difficult to get a opinion from a web resized image but to my taste I prefer the shot (above) taken with the 35.
About the first set, I think you just have to play with your histogram or the "white point" and you'll get the same result.
Philippe (number 2)
I recently acquired the 28/2, 35/1.4, 50/2 & 100/2 ZF.2 lenses. I took this shot yesterday with the 100/2 (sorry for the small size but I've had a problem with people using my images for commercial purposes):
Gregg - I am enjoying your 50P shots. Tulip shot is revealing the characteristics of 50 very well in comparison to 1.4/35. Especially the change in distance brings out the clarity instantly to the same 1.4 images, which is quite interesting. Portrait of Mason at 2.2 is already quite sharp. Picnic table shot and the shot of Rajah also reveals the even at 1.4, from a mid distance on, it gives much more sharpness compare to close up shot, with the beautiful rendition of space, which I love. I know if my 50P was a z version I would be posting much more 50P shots on this thread.
Picture This! - Amazing shot. Great color and composition. I love the wave pattern on the sand. Beautiful.
Philippe - Thank you for the wonderful comparison. Indeed 25 and 35 seems close to each other compare to 21. Also the first shot reveals how 21mm, IMHO is a bit too wide if the objective is to capture space close to how I perceive it. Something the way how it renders, I can't 'breath the air' from the space, which I feel I can with 25 and 35 shots. Also troubling with 21 for this particular shot is the statue on the left is stretched out due to the viewing angle. One characteristic I have hard time embracing. Second shot, 35 seems slightly less contrasty, or that may be due to 25 exposed a little brighter. I like the rendition of them both. 25 though, seems a little more punchy and 'traditional' zeissy. Having said that, one particular sort of shots I know I will miss from you is the big picturesque shots of Versaille with 21. Those shots blew me away. ( I believe they were 21 ? Too lazy to go back and check )
dgjean - Congrats on your new acquisition of fabulous lenses. Beautiful shot. Looking forward to see more work !

Nikon D3s & Zeiss 100/2 ZF.2
Glad to see you're using your Zeiss, I remenber that in another thread you said that you prefer Nikkor lenses especially for night shots

That's true, but I also qualified that remark by saying that it's probably because I'm not familiar with the Zeiss lenses yet. Time will tell.
@dgjean - Fantastic shot with the Makro-Planar 100mm .
I'm finally getting around to editing the shots taken during my trip to India in November. This is a series I did with an elephant keeper who does all the weddings in Delhi.
All shots are with the Distagon T* 1,4/35mm. I find this lens just draws incredibly well and with a special magic. That being said, I can't wait to try out the 25mm especially after seeing Philber's shots.
