MJ - great to see you work here again. I enjoy the drama of the board walk shot
Alkanphel - Hate to repeat a phrase, but, Great to see you work on this thread again. I like the feeling that first two are a pair, and the last two also are a pair. Great color on the leaf.
Thanks akul! Been busy and hardly got the chance to go out and shoot, or even visit this great thread. There are so many pages and great photos to slowly catch-up on!
So after using liveview to check the focus on my 21mm, it turns out that it was fine. I was just an idiot thinking that the Viewfinder on camera should have the correct corresponding focus with the lens. I guess it's a keeper! Thanks to Akul, CVickery, Carsten, and Mescalamba for pointing out my error.
Smridevan - I am glad that your lens is dong fine. Just in case. have you checked your 'Viewfinder Diopter Adjustment' on your camera? Someimes, it can get shifted. Like I said, just in case.
Jim - Love that color. Also really interesting is that the traffic lights looks as if they are just floating. Somehow, it reminded me of the scene from 'Back to the Future'. ha ha, showing my age here.

I had the same thing. It became even more obvious after installing a KatzEye split-prism screen - the focus in the viewfinder did not agree with the focus in the image. I talked to KatzEye and they said this is pretty common. These days, camera makers don't bother to calibrate the viewfinder for manual focus very accurately, because the vast majority of photographers use AF. Eventually I calibrated my viewfinder by putting shims between the prism and the focus screen. It's very precise now, but it required some good nerves to mess around in the mirror box. In any case, these alignment issues are never the fault of the lens.

I did but to no avail...the same thing happens.

That's reassuring that I'm not the only one having the same issue. What's weird is that it doesn't seem to have an issue with the 100zf.2 (or it's not as pronounced that I can tell), so I'm afraid if I adjust my camera for the 21mm, the 100mm lens will be off. Maybe this an inherent issue with the UWA perspective of the lens that somehow distorts the visual image reaching the viewfinder? I'm wondering...
Just curious, does your 21mm focus ring turn significantly smoother/softer (much less resistance) than the 100mm?

Thanks, Lars. That's what I thought too...too soft.

Smridevan, have you re-tested your 100/2? Something could have changed.
I haven't done a rigorous test using a tripod...just hand holding so it might be my poor technique causing the difference. Maybe at some point in the future I'll do a more rigorous comparison. But for now I'll just enjoy them and not worry about it.
Thank you akul, carstenw, Morfeus, fracas, Uzay, Lars.
Lots of great shots from everyone! Really love processing and intensity of Hong Kong shots by ViscaB.
Here's one with 2/100 ZF.2:
