Following Samuli's tradition that he tries never to post without contributing a picture, here is why I love the 35 f:1.4 for flowers and close-ups. This pleases me enough that I can happily live with the fact that I sold my 100MP.
Beautiful shot Philippe but I don't know if I could ever sell that 100MP. You are, however, convincing me that I need to add to my collection . . .
I should have put the whole name, Storm King Art Center. It is an outdoor modern museum that has a huge site ( 500 acres ) and a lot of space between large scale modern sculptures. I know it looks a bit like a golf course, but I don't play golf
Bob - Great shots of country side. Great light. Beautiful tonality.
Philber - Beautiful flowers and rocks. Very clear, transparency., like it is right there. 35 f/1.4 sure looks very good. Tempting I must admit. Smart 1.4 combo. Also tempting !
Two recent photos from the 21ZE which I haven't used enough since I acquired it a year ago. I was starting to feel guilty as I've been taking preference over narrower focal lengths (35/50/85). Truth is I use to be a UltraWide guy before I got sick with the Zeiss-flu.
The first one had Lee's Big Stopper & Lee 0.9 Hard Grad filters, the second is a 9-frame DRI (Dynamic Range Increase) as filters wouldn't cut it at the scene. I tried to keep it as natural looking as possible, so there are some dark areas that were that dark in reality. I could have lightened it up but then it wouldn't be true-to-life any more.
Any reason to use 9 frame over say 2 or 3 frames with a wider ev range? It seems with 9 frame, there is a much higher chance of alignment or ghosting problems even in static scenes.

Thanks! I didn't really need 9, but the dynamic range at the scene was way beyond 2 stops in either direction, so I shot 9 to be safe. I used data from the lowest and the highest exposures, but didn't use all of the exposures. I did this manually in Photoshop, I'm sure software would have gotten better usage of the 9 frames
I was recently in Las Vegas and decided to venture outside the bustling life of sin city, to a quiet ghost town of Nelson, Nevada. Here are a few photos from the trip:

i like the kitten shot, but the last puppy shot is a real winner, you seemed to have captured a 'sad emotion' in the dog's face.Well done.
well done by the puppy, I must say, although not a dog lover, I ended up taking him home with me (the other one had disappeared unfortunately) and found a permanent home for him within a week, thanks to such touching photos made with Zeiss lenses
stop me now from showing the other hundred
I like your wire shot!

#2 #3 #5 are great with very nice OOF area. Stray cat shot has narrative which adds to the photo. The problem I have with Zf35 is that it is hard to focus on Live View. I sometimes wonder if my copy just does not reach infinity or something. On Live View, 100 MP is very easy to focus with D700, also with NEX ZF35 is still quite easy to focus. Somehow, D700 and ZF35 is finicky. Often, I feel I am not focusing on the right spot with it when subjects are in distance.
I went through a bunch of 35 landscape photos today, and I know what you mean. I focuse by viewfinder mostly, but I had the same problem there. Some where front- some backfocused, and even when focused correctly the images didn't look sharp in the distance even with f8. These were distances from 7or 10 m up to infinity. The light was bad, but nevertheless I would expect sharper results.
thanks for the kind comment on the cat photo. Your mountain laurel looks much better nice set of greenery too!
Bob, your Mosel pics are very expressive, especially the 2nd!
Phillipe, I like the tonality of that new 35mm of yours. Show us some more, please! There is not much life in the 35mm threads.
Kiddik: your HDR is really very well done!
mjassbong: +1 for 2nd and last
I've been busy had only just visited the thread to see tons of beautiful photos posted! Too many to comment on but excellent work everyone! Here's one with my ZE 100, a friend desperate for the X100:
