Congratulations on your new lens, zombii. But, unfortunately, the lens alone does not make me shoot people as easily as rsolti (well done!) with these kids...

Thanks philber. It won't make me shoot them as easily as he does either but at least I know it will do it well if I do my part. In all fairness, there have been other good people shots with the 50 posted earlier in the thread but it's nice to see that not only what you've been saying about it is true but that it isn't weak for portraits. I hemmed and hawed about this one for a while so it helped confirm I made a good choice.
Donuss, great shots with the 18! Clearly a better lens than its reviews.
Since this is now the ZM thread (it is isn't it?) as well I'll post these two shots taken today with the 18mm ZM Distagon.
Lee RF75 3-stop ND Grad on this one:

Zombii, this is a very easy lens to focus with for portraits. As I have read everywhere, f/2 on this lens is very sharp and the images definitely have the typical look. Can't tell you why, but my keeper rate is very high when using this lens for portrait work....EVEN with kids. On top of that, I have been shooting the last few days with my D90 (DX 1.5 crop sensor) and am still having good luck. I can't wait to get my D700 back.
Wayne, I believe it was f/2.8. I still don't have my D700 so I was using my D90 which does not store any info.

I like this but not the grey top (filter?) I would prefer it au natural...
A
Cheers Anden.
It is natural, the filter is neutral so colours are accurate. If you're referring to the grey cloud (?) well, that's just a cloud that wasn't being hit by the sunlight.

Wow. Can you please post a crop of the front boulder/rock and the rear elements in the picture? What f-stop?
thanks a lot.
f/11, focused a bit close it would seem, but I assume most viewers would want to see the foreground sharper. The rocks in the mid-right are nice and sharp as well.
I have 50/2 ZE and 100/2 ZE on a Canon 5D and it looks to me that many photographs are about 1/3 to 2/3 stops overexposed compared to Canon Ls. I'm using mostly Av mode. I haven't had the Zeiss lenses long enough to determine if it's a real problem or just coincidence. Did any of you notice any overexposure with Zeiss on Canon bodies?

I have the 50 MP ZE and the 100 MP ZE as well... I actually found they underexposed. I'm thinking it's sabotage in the canon firmware to make alternative lenses look bad
I also have the 5DII BTW, and this also seems to happen sometimes with my 35 ZE, so I'm thinking it's the photographer/subject not the lenses. Especially now, considering you have the opposite problem.

Great shots Edgar. How do you find MF on the 30D?
Risolti13: I like the last shot and the PP.
Thank you!
It is not easy. I have added Nikon dk-21m eyepiece with 1.17 magnification in hope that it helps. Especially difficult with 100mm, easier with wider ones. I still enjoy the process. I might need to buy an autofocus lens for my wife though.
