Hi, finished browsing last few hundred pages I was "behind"... Great to see most familiar photographers are still posting here and we have plenty of new ones as well; Welcome! A lot of great images on those few hundred pages I browsed through, don't want to mention any specifics but Carsten's 50mm images from page ~285 of trees (comparing planar and makro-planar) inspired me to charge camera batteries and go out and shoot.
I had "short" pause in photography; didn't take almost any photos between October and last weekend. It felt really great to go out and shoot again! Few photos attached (click shooting details link to see bigger version of shown thumbnail).
Best Regards, Samuli
PS. I'm going soon to Austria - I'll be packing light, just 4 ZE lenses 21, 35, 50 and 100. I'm spending most of the time in Wien, and more or less I know what I want to shoot there. But I would appreciate hints where to go (photography point of view) on the 3 days I have rental car - I want to stay in Austria, not to jump other countries nearby. I have some issues with my knee and back so any hiking is out of the question this summer, but light walk from car to 0.5-1km is OK.
Samuli! Welcome back! I guess you got out again to add to your collection. Very nice results, exactly what inspired me to go on a long nature/tree photo spree recently, mostly in Tiergarten. Funny that my comparison inspired you, because that very comparison was inspired by earlier posts by you
Wellcome back Samuli.
I just saw you've got the same Zeiss lenses I do, and also the 50/1.4
I know this has been discussed before, but I'm still in a lot of doubt about buying it since I have the 35/2. The way I see it, the reasons for buying it would be the 15mm more and the 2 extra f/stops. But...
Since I shoot it in a 21mp Canon, I have a lot of room for cropping the 35 and bring it to a 50mm perspective. f2 seems enough when you can go hi ISO with confidence this days. And i"ve been reading that the sharpeness of this lens starts shinning after f2 anyway...People also talk about drawing style, but I'm in doubt about it in real world...
And I also have a Canon 50/1.4 which is good after f2.
So...what are you thoughts?
oneant: love both shots
prosep: love the first one! beautiful!
fracas: soft pastel light in the first one, would love to see more!
makten: you really "see" very nicely. Some very unique compositions of material
which would really challenge me. also love the blue tyre shot :-)
Samuli: the first one is gorgeous and thanks for linking to a larger version!
Beautiful example for the 50P.
Carsten: Your earlier forest shots with the 50P were equally breathtaking. IMHO, in that sense alone, the 50MP cannot match the 50P for these type of scenes.
Speaking of forests, here is one from the 21
& another: [decided to leave the flare spots in: I somewhat like them !]
