Add me to the list of "wowed" alkanphel... just an outstanding almost abstract image... well done.

Gary... your first image from your last set is exceptional... just LOVE all the different lines to the rows of crosses throughout the image. Great set.

I've only been taking the occasional snap candid lately unfortunately... no nice scenics worthy of this great thread... but a couple ZF100MP samples anyway:

I second that, Gary great tree shot. Looks like it was taken in the middle of the day but the lighting on the tree looks very nice, not harsh at all. I'm not sure I'd be able to pull that off.

Great photos from everyone.

Thanks a lot Gunzorro, melbmanu, corposant, dj dunzie, Gary, Hugo!

Gary: Love how the rows of crosses continue off into the horizon
dj dunzie: Nice candid shots! The 2nd photo is so crisp!
Hugo: Great portraitures, I like the 1st and last ones especially, the DOF is at the right places.
cputeq: That starfish is so vivid!

alkanphel, loved both your shots from the previous post. The first one everybody liked that looked like a snowflake is mega!

cputeq: ditto with your first image. That one simply rocks! And in the third one, he(?) looks really angry! Got an ID for him?

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. This tree was huge! I was quite a distance away and still could not get it in the frame. And yes, very harsh mid-day lighting. Great pics everyone!

Lars

Mind if I asked what color space mapping did you use ? And what kind of lighting was inside the monastery / temple ?

Gary, tree shot is nice.

I don't even know what color space mapping would be in Swedish ?

If you are refering to the very red/orange color tone in the image ? it's because all the carpets, blankets and clothes inside the temple have that color. And the light will reflect it in the image.
It was rather dark inside the temple and the lighting was a combination of natural light from the windows. and also both bulb lights and fluorescent light in the roof.

One more. Again, I have to feel sad when I see that the look of my original 3-shot 50 MP stitch was preserved all the way down to 1600x1000, but that in the last resizing step it loses so much of the feel. Some shots are just not meant to be viewed small.

Thanks Uzay! I knew as soon as I saw the little hole in the foliage that I could get a special shot there. The sun was coming from the right angle, and the light was very nice. I spent some time walking back and forth a bit to try to get a nice composition, but in the end, the simple choice was the best.

Technically, there were more little foliage holes near the top of the photo which let through too much light, so that it became distracting, so I closed the holes a bit with the Aperture Retouch tool (Clone clone ). I also added a little vignetting to contain the foliage a bit, but the way things were arranged, there was already some natural vignetting there.

The first and last shots looks familiar. Did you take similar photos a long time ago?

The middle shot I quite like, but I see less of the doors on the left than I would like, and more of the people and visual clutter on the right than I would like. If you had moved slightly to the right, possibly the columns would have moved close enough together to close the gaps from the camera's perspective, and would also have increased the view of the doors on the left? Possibly also taking a step or two forwards would have cut off the lamp on the left, and brought end of the hallway a bit more into the image. If you had then waited until the person at the end was gone (too small, and chopped off at the knees, to add interest), the composition might have been cleaner.

I tried cropping a bit from the right and bottom, and a tiny bit from the left, to simulate the perspective I suggested a little, and I think it helps.

Maybe also a very light-duty pseudo-HDR treatment might have given it a bit more life? If you use Lightroom, probably the fill light slider, possibly with a touch of recovery added? Lightroom experts should be able to give more details.

I could post before/after modifications to show what I mean, if you are interested.

Carsten, thank you, i might post some pics before from the same place (i really don't remember) but those were taken 2 days ago.

I got your points about the middle one, actually you're right, i have also one from the angle you want.

I never tried HDR with Zeis lens since i'm afraid of destruct Zeiss character, i'm interested in everything that i can learn so i'm open to any suggestions.
