The first three are really good examples of what the 50MP does well, Jochen. The fourth one is a question of taste I guess. It would also have worked with less DoF, but would have emphasized the people more.
You have a good point carsten. I would have liked it better too if there was less DOF, focus on the couple. That's one of the reasons why I'm thinking about buying the 100MP. I wasn't nearly close enough for that with the 50. It's even cropped now.
Nice shots, Vincent! I happen to prefe rthe first one. Maybe you could play around with your choice of frame. I am not sure that this blue one does any favors to the greens in your two photos.
Lovely pair, Lars!

Anyway, to continue the LAB discussion from the Leica thread. I've chosen a couple of images that present sharpening difficulties and I've used a standard method - one in full RGB space one in LAB space with only the L channel. I have chosen a more aggressive sharpening than usual so that the differences can be highlighted.

The bottom line for me is that I really can't tell the RGB/L apart. To me the differences seem extremely slight but perhaps I'm just blind to that type of subtlety..
This is ancient (I am just going carefully through the whole thread to read up on interesting topics), and I have to agree that I cannot see any difference in the sharpness in your pair, but I feel there is a slight colour difference between almost all the pairs, and the Lab shot looks better in each case. In the shots with a blue sky, the blue is better, brighter, more natural in the Lab shots, whereas the regular shots have slight colour drifts to unnatural colours like purple.
I will have to try this out myself and see if I can see a difference in my own shots too.

Some great shots from everyone - I really like the variety.
Well, still waiting to hear from Zeiss about the infinity focus problem - They don't get any points for customer service response time, that's for sure.
A few from an Easter egg hunt / activity day with my kids.
5D2 and the lovely 35/2 (I really, really like this lens and I'm using it more over my 24-105, which I didn't expect to do). The lens is so ridiculously sharp!
I have literally not touched sharpness in Lightroom with any shot of my 35/2, and I think I've only nudged "Clarity" on about 2 shots. If I do any adjustments, it's usually a switch to "Faithful" for the profile then an upping of saturation a small bit (because "Normal" seems to change colors too much, especially pinks and purples). Also, I generally lower the exposure by just a hair, especially to slightly enhance any vignetting I have at f/2.
Did I mention I love this lens?
This one pretty much sums up my son's mood for the entire day - just let me be! He wasn't wiping his eyes, he was reacting to me saying "smile Eli!" haha.
Bob - The first shot of sideway bicycle is just stunning
carsten - for that particular shot, I must say I like 50MP shots more. 50P shot is a bit dull in comparison.
cputeq - beautiful shots from flower garden
prsep - the shot of parking lot is beautiful. And the shot of great cloud and dirt road.
jochenb- Great shots with 50 MP, My favorite is #2
Lars - Those Thai peppers looks quite lethal. Beautiful buddha statues, but I love the three wheel taxi parked next to magazine stand. Amazing shot.
I have not been using macro function of 100MP so much. As I love cherry blossom, I had to try some as it is only few days a year, and of course, it rained.
