Denoir - Beautiful shots. I like the third one the most, although I like them all.
Diploneiis - That is a very surreal shot. Sort of like 'Men in Black'. Or, some strange interview, or may be missing a full concert piano..... Anyhow, my imagination has gone wild. Love the branch on the right. Is that the same branch from your shot a while ago ??
Very cool shot of the man Martynas Love it
Great shots Martynas, Akul, Bob, Luka, Hugo, Philber & everyone else. i haven't been looking in this thread for about two weeks and there are too many new photos to comment on
Akul - yes is the same branch! Was a fun 2 mile hike to the place with bar chair, tripod and suit nicely packet together with camera. Changing clothes at -15 C is also fun!
Philber - I am still in Colorado..
Thanks all for your comments!
Akul - I like the mood in your last shots - sometimes the so called "bad" weather and "boring" light helps to create very interesting and moody shots. I need to get 35mm - sometimes I feel I miss something in-between 21 and 100...
I also need something to use between 21mm Distagon and 100mm Makro-Planar, and I think that my traditional choice of 50mm is not quite wide enough, so the 35mm f/2 is the natural choice. I have long hesitated, thinking that I should perhaps wait for the 35mm f/1.4 Distagon ZF.2, but I am slowly concluding that the primary benefit of this lens, it performance wide open, will not help me fill the gap between 21 and 100 in the kind of photography I use those two lenses for, so I might go for the 35/2 after all, saving some money in the process. Still, I am interested to read the performance comparisons of the two, so I will probably wait a bit first.
Meanwhile I will see what the Sigma 50/1.4 delivers in this space. I didn't buy this lens for this use, but since I have it I might as well see. I used it exclusively today in a walk through a local cemetary, a task which I usually use the 21 and 100 for. It will be interesting to see what comes out of it (but I guess this thread will be uncontaminated by the discovery ).
Diploneis- That is impressive. All the work you put for the sake of making art ! Great work !!
Diploneis, Carstenw - Distagon 35 f2 is a great lens. I enjoy it a lot. I do like the focal length too. It is not as much of a super star compare to 21 and 100, but certainly is capable of capturing space, volume and detail in high quality. The upcoming 35 1,4 seems promising however the weight and size makes it a little less desirable for me. I wish contax version could be converted for F-mount, but apparently it is not. I have contax 50 f1.4, but have not converted yet. After my recent acquisition of 100 MP, I feel a little bit of a desire to fill in the gap between 35 - 100 ( ha ha ), so I might bite the bullet and do the leitax conversion.
Philber, the Biogon seems to work very well on the NEX. Impressive! As you might know, I've got one of those too, but I seldom use it nowadays because it's "too sharp" on film. But I'll probably keep it for the future. Some day there will be a full frame camera like the NEX
And thanks for the homage!
Self portrait with ZF 35/2 on D700; f/2.8 and ISO 1000. The grain isn't noise. It's the fabric of the blinds in the window.
Philber - Your NEX shots are killing me !! They look great. I really liked your Urbex Urban abstraction shot is beautiful. The bench shot showcases the resolution of Biogon. Have you notice color shifting on corners ? Honestly, I can't see any.
slmorley - Congrats on your 35. Looking forward to more.
Makten - Beautiful shot! You got great eyes. It is a 'wall hanger' in my opinion.
Bob - Welcome back to US. Snow has not hit here quite yet. Great shots as always. I like the #1 and #4.
Gary - This shot makes me smile Very lovely shot in the snow. I love how the color of snow clothes contrast in the scene. Beautiful light and shadow.

I tried to write "no monument", but there is one in the background of one pic, two actually if you look closely. Life is tough here if you don't like monuments, let me tell you...
Philippe, I thought the "Forum des Halles" should already be in the process of being totally rebuilt from scratch. I have seen the plans for the new (futuristic) concepts with 3D simulations - it said start of works should be 2010 - finished by 2012. Obviously not true - are they out of money? First time I have been at the current Forum des Halles was end of the 70ies (I was a pupil then), last time was in 2006 where I found it already to be quite dirty and not in very good shape.
You are correct, Bernhard, except that the Maire de Paris put the cart before the horses, and announced an agreement over the project and timing well before the legal procedures were over, and, in France, there are many legal ways for citizens to object and stop such a project. So, for the time being, it is back to the drawing board, this time in consultation with the people who actually live in the area.
