Jon: I shoot with a 7D and the OEM focus screen. I'v even shot a wedding with the 35 on the 7D and my keeper percentage was actually higher than using AF lenses. Just takes practice I guess.
Interesting. I also have a 7D; it'll be interesting to compare the images it produces versus my 1D Mk III.
So anyway, I teach grad school on Wednesdays, and I was eager to mount up my new 35mm and go out for a test shoot. My first impression is man, it's going to take me some time to get this lens and manual focusing wired again. My eyesight is pretty f***ed up. 3 years ago I tore the retinas in both of my eyes (surfing accident), and I should be wearing glasses, but I don't. In particular, my left eye (the one I shoot with) has a couple of "floaters" in it. I've come to rely on AF, and boy does it show now. This lens is über-sensitive. It also seems like the colors render very flat. I am looking through my laptop which is not the best judge, but out of the camera I really needed to boost the saturation as compared to my usual Canon L glass. At this moment I can't decide whether I am pleased or disappointed...

Congratulations on your new lens, Chris. Your rope shot is my fave.
Thanks Philippe. It's a joy to use.. looking forward to more shooting this weekend. One thing I noticed is how being forced to manual focus.. makes me more attentive to my composition.. to observe light more.. to focus on what I am seeing. IQ is fantastic on this lens. Very nice indeed.
few quick ones from weekend trip up to smokey mountains in tennessee to enjoy the Fall colors (since we dont get that hear in FL lol) .. amazing sceneries. these were taken with 21ZE
our cabin that we stayed at is on the left in Pigeon Forge
view from cabin. taken on different day
smokey mountains at one of the stops while driving through
@teh_rebel: Stop it!! You make me want that ZE21 so bad! Fortunately (sort of) I don't even have to consider buying it because it is way out of my budget atm.
Wonderful shots, and a great place to stay to the looks of it.

lol thanks man .. youre going to want all the ZE's if you keep looking at this thread with all the amazing photos that others are posting
Well, I bought Bernie's 100MP and he bought a ZF.2 50/1.4, so the total number of Zeiss lenses in our little community has grown by one, and my collection has doubled (I also have a ZF21). I hope to add a 35, either the 35/2 or perhaps the new 35/1.4, I am not sure yet. I might also add a 50MP, but I am less sure of this.
teh_rebel excellent shots. Really like the look in #2. I went around that area last year this time before I really got into photography....now I want to go back . I moved from Orlando area to Savannah and yes, colors like that are nowhere to be found...even up here

thats where im at, orlando area .. at least youre closer to the smokey mountains area now that you're in Savannah. easy trip for u .. btw, thanks!
Lovely fall shots, teh_rebel, though your second shot, while showing very good composition, seems to have almost over-saturated colours.
Great first shot, Robert, where things weren't as simple as shooting a marvel of XVIIIth century architecture...
Jon - Sorry to hear about the trouble with your eye. I love your shots though. My favorite is the first one. Dreamy.
Chris - Your sleeping dog shot is great, also like the rope shot. Congrats on ZF 100.
teh_rebel - Great deep color image. Second one caught my eyes. I never thought asphalt roofing can look interesting, but when put in the right context, voila ! Very interesting view point. Stripe on the building wall is also adding to the scene.
rji2goleez - Great sets. Great skies on all of them.
MJ- Congrats on the 100. Handheld macro in wind ! Great job. Love the way how background is treated.
dimitris77 - I like the first shot. Mail box and background tells some story.
Some shots from few days ago. Apology for non beauty subject. ( Pondered about B/W on the first one, but decided not to )
MJ, I am green with envy. Tried this, and failed soooo many times...
Robert, I am green with envy. There is no place here where I can even try this...
Akul, I am green with envy. Even if I had had the place to try this, which I don't, I wouldn't have thought about this
Dimitris I am green with envy. It seems your new 35mm lens is working just fine, doesn't it?
Well done, people!
I need to rush out and find myself a couple of statues to cool down...
I am green with envy !
I'd love to live in a reasonable distance from beautiful chateau, opera house, amazing french garden, beautiful statues with amazing bread, coffee and wine, ... Well, I got filthy back alley filled with stinky steam ha ha
In case you guys are wondering why I have not posted anything for almost a week it's because I have been preoccupied with a new toy (Leica M9) so my 5DII + ZE glass have not been used. Once the novelty wears off, I'll try to strike a balance between ZE and ZM and use each where appropriate.
