Ed, I'm not sure if I've seen you post here before. Nice set, the first is my favourite with the subdued colours.
thanks, i'm usually in nikon forum or cruising buy/sell and occasionally Alts, love my Zeiss's so i had to post.
the picture you refered to is of Sand Beach (creative name i know) in Acadia Maine, the beach itself is annual to how the tide moves through that area, in winter the sand is washed back into the ocean and it is only rocks. In spring the tide brings the sand back in through summer and then all over again when winter comes.
Thank you Bob, and Joakim. Bob, this is my own recipe. Which means it will probably beghin to look like a failure as I start applying to a range of images. Here's another view of the same scene, with the same preset applied:
Love your first pic, MJ!
Diploneis, I feel cold already. Did you have to do that to me?
That being said, I have never been able to take a shot like this, and you are giving me ideas...
Greetings FM forum members. I have been following this amazing thread for some time, and today took the plunge and purchased my very first piece of Carl Zeiss glass to go with my 1D Mk III.
It hasn't taken long to recognize the challenges I face with manual focusing. Since I am not a fan of Live View, I believe I will have to switch focusing screens. Kindly recommend the ideal choice to go with my 35mm f/2 lens on my 1D Mk III body.
I've done a search already and have been unable to find much pertaining to the Mark III.

Jon, Canon offer a bunch of specialised focusing screens for the 1DMkIII, which you can find here Canon 1D MkIII accessories
Hope this helps.
Thanks for the follow-up Philber, just hoping for a specific referral. Also, just how dark does the viewfinder become? Will I want to switch back to standard screen when using AF, or is that too much of a p.i.t.a.?
Also, I've read a few posts reporting issues with loss of metering modes. Is this true with the 1D Mk III?

A partial answer, Jon. With Canon focusing screens, your metering remains OK, whereas the reports of bad metering come with teh use of "alt" screens, though by no means all users report this.
Also, you should have no problems with brightness with a 1D and your new Zeiss. Many of use here use the same lens with a MF focusing screen on a 5D, which has a darker VF than yours, so you should be fine.
I'm using the Ec-S on my 1Ds mrk II and I'm very happy with it, the S model seems to be favoured by many here on fm both for 5d and 1d. I find it a little harder to focus with slower lenses (slower than 2.8) with it.
rsolti13: Love that leaf photo.
---XR---: First is my fav.
rji2goleez: Great series. Especially love the first image with the leaves. Great spot.
Ulff: Magical images. Dreamlike.
Gary: Love the concept of the second photo with the lone leaf sitting on the rock with and the bg filled with OOF leaves.
Diploneis: Wicked exposure. The ice is so crisp and sharp and you still got motion in the water. Thanks for reminding all of us northerners of impending doom.
Jon: I shoot with a 7D and the OEM focus screen. I'v even shot a wedding with the 35 on the 7D and my keeper percentage was actually higher than using AF lenses. Just takes practice I guess.

Beautiful shots just keep getting posted. I am falling behind !!
Forgot to mention thanks for those who commented on my pic from a while back.
I am giving up on keeping pace, so just from this page +1. ( not in the right order )
rsolti13 - Third one is gold! Beautiful use of macro.
Ulff - Those shots are stunning.
-XR- beautiful shots of the coast.
MJ - #2 #4 are my favorite. Water texture of #2 is beautiful
Todd - The fence shot is my favorite.
rji2goleez - Congrats on ZF35. Obviously you need no practice at all !! Love the broken cell phone shot on concrete bench. A drama.
Gary - Nice contrast with white birch tree (?) and the colorful background. ( Weird thing is some monitor can't show the detail, and switching monitor, it came into life for this particular photo)
Diploneis - Few, drastic change of weather in just a few days. Ice on the rock is ver nicely captured.
Lars - Cobble stone texture, and reflected light on it is beautiful. Detail in dark area makes this shot.
